Complete Remodeling (This Old House)
This book was exactly what I had hoped it would be, that is, a careful, detailed listing of what needed to be addressed in my restoration of a beautiful old house which had been allowed to deteriorate for well over a decade. Carrying out many of the ideas in this book tripled the value of this particular house.

Not what I thought
I received this book as a gift not long after I got married. I personally don't like books that are all encompassing for home remodel. They always seem to just touch on topics instead of getting in depth. This book is basically a manual on how to hire a contractor. And I also don't feel that decorating belongs in a home improvement book. I would recommend getting...

I received this book as a gift not long after I got married. I personally don't like books that are all encompassing for home remodel. They always seem to just touch on topics instead of getting in depth. This book is basically a manual on how to hire a contractor. And I also don't feel that decorating belongs in a home improvement book. I would recommend getting dedicated books on each topic: plumbing, framing, masonry,ect...I would not recommend this book for anybody who knows what he/she is doing. It in my opinion is strictly for beginners.

This was a gift to my son and wife because it contained useful, varied, inspiring, unique, and helpful information. Alas, it didn't do the job, they still have gotten around to remodeling
