The start is incredible..."The public whipping of Marianne Locke, 16, ...." catches your attention and interest immediately. And the obsession of Sir Thomas Eden as he pursues Marianne makes for one of the most intriguing love stories written. The settings are well described, and the characters so realistic that you begin to "fall in love" with them. This book starts the Eden series...so beware -- you'll want to read them all!

Something of a Wonderful mindless treadmill read. But, there are lots of issues that spark thought. Whippings by the master of the castle, reversals, revenge, betrayal by sex, family, society, sex, children. I'm going to read more of this author to discover the trend. Very Thought Provoking romantic delicious trash. My first venture into this author.

I happened across this series in a used book store - all the books were together and I gave it a try. From the moment I read the first page to the end of all the books, I was hooked! It's not your typical "romance" novel. It follows a family through several generations. The characters are deep and the plot is very interesting. When I went to work, I had to tell a friend what I had read the day before - she was hooked without even reading them herself! She just had to know what happened next with the characters and you will too as you read this series. I highly recommend them - you won't be dissappointed. The first book starts out rather strong but definitely sets the stage. It has love, hate, jealousy, intrigue, conquests, and heartbreak. A real page turning series!
