Psychobilly are Go!, April 16, 2000

What on Earth is Psychobilly and why would anyone listen to it? Well, if you like rockabilly acts like Stray Cats and the Blasters and thought Punk was interesting too, what this CD calls "Psychobilly" is a blend of the two. It was apparently a popular movement in the UK in the late 80's. You will find CDs like this in the Swing or Rockabilly section of your record store, with acts like "Demented Are Go" and the "Frantic Flintstones" among the featured acts. To my ears, the tunes by the Meteors and Frenzy are better than Batmobile and others, but it's just a matter of taste. About a quarter of the songs are five star, a quarter are four star, and so on, but it is an interesting mix and will definitely pump you up. Don't be surprised if you find yourself styling your hair into green spikes.
