Ray Brown the ultimate in Jazz Bass, January 16, 2001

I thought this CD was so great becuase the man behind the music is really something special. Being in the music business for over 50 years and playing with virually everyone who's anyone. Ray Brown is truely a hero for any bassist or musician. His tone is amazing, getting a huge fat sound with amazing energy. I recently attended a masterclass that he gave at Northwestern, and the knowledge that he had was incredible. He could tell anything and everything you wanted to know about playing, the business, and life in general. I'm inspired by his playing as are many others, so this album is great.
