brilliant!! acoustic delta blues at its best!!,
This review is from: This Road Is Mine (Audio CD)
Nathan James and his duo partner Ben Hernandez are truly great players in the delta tradition. This record is worthy of a handy award. Track #1 serves immediate notice that you are listening to greatness. How he plays such beautiful guitar and harmonica simultaneously is a mystery to me. Many have tried this, none I've ever heard have pulled it off so flawlessly. Robert Johnson would have liked to play so brilliantly. Track #3 showcases blues vocal harmony at its best. Ben Hernandez has a powerful gospel voice that is a perfect compliment to Nathan's. I could go on and on. A new blues record of such quality is so rare these days. Here are two young artists who are better than many of the old masters. Buy this record. It's pure food for the soul.

I try to reserve 5-Star ratings for only the very best albums, and I believe this one truly merits it. I've had Nathan's albums "Make A Change Sometime" and "Hollerin!" for some time now, and thoroughly enjoy both of them. When this one arrived, it instantly went to the top of my list. It's just so honest and authentic. It's a very cohesive effort - a good listen from start to finish. Acoustic blues is alive and well in the 21st Century!
