Beautiful sadness, January 18, 2007

Con Dolore were the short-lived follow-up to Polar, whose debut album 'This Sad Movie' took their previous band's dreampop styles to even more luscious levels, achieving a level of beauty and that recalls Cocteau Twins (a compliment I do not give lightly!). The music is actually quite varied, incorporating a range of styles and elements within a dreampop framework, and all unified by the warm, 'cinematic' production and a melancholy inclination - 'This Sad Movie', indeed.
