5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for infertile women and couples
First, I want to say the cover and illustrations are beautiful and bring a sense of calm just looking at them. Second, from the very beginning of the book I sobbed. Sobbed in a good way, it was like a release. When you wrote about Sharon's

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a handbook for me
This book contains mostly poems. Most of the poems seem to be centered around the pain of infertility and none about moving on. I understand that the book is about infertility, but I thought it would have some uplifting words. I really did not find any. There seems to be a lot of pain in the book and little if any healing words. I was quite disappointed in it. The...

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for infertile women and couples, October 9, 2002

First, I want to say the cover and illustrations are beautiful and bring a sense of calm just looking at them. Second, from the very beginning of the book I sobbed. Sobbed in a good way, it was like a release. When you wrote about Sharon's
dream, of course I identified, but when you mentioned the "amputation" scenario demonstrating just how far some of us would go to have a baby, I lost it. That point was SO POWERFUL. That's when I began to cry. You really brought it home there. After a short while my husband came into the room. At that point we were kind of reading it together. He had know choice as I kept nudging him saying, "Look at this. This is exactly what we went through." We identified with page after page. Some of it was so painful, because it reacquainted me with that rough period of my life, but in another way it brought peace in recalling just how hard I've tried to have a baby. I have comfort in knowing *I've tried almost everything.* Also, I agree and like your "twelve step" concept. So easy to understand and implement. As women we've been programmed, since childhood, to a certain way of thinking. Your twelve steps help us to reprogram and help us accept our, unexpected, childfree way of life. I find your suggestions invaluable.

Last, but not least, I enjoyed your poetry. It was beautiful! I was especially touched by the poems- * Unmade Memories, Absence Of Bliss, and Love And Prayers,* both my husband and I cried while reading them. Your heart is very beautiful, and I respect and appreciate your vulnerability. I'm sure that wasn't easy. Thank you for exposing yourself to help people like me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome--the first book to make me cry!, October 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: This Too Shall Pass (Paperback)
I have read all the technical infertility books out there--and not shed a tear. This book so capably covers the emotions that are buried during infertility, and made the pain finally surface for me. Wonderful poetry and heartfelt emotion make this book a must read. There simply is nothing else out there like it.

Bitter? Yes, we who are going through infertility ARE bitter. If you have gone through a few years of it you would understand. That's why Lori's poetry is so powerful. After bitterness comes acceptance. If you don't get the anger up it will eat you and your marriage alive.

Great little poem "For The Fertile World" which you can share w/friends and relatives who don't know how to handle this.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good resource for the emotions of infertility, July 4, 2000

I found this book short and easy to read; and very helpful in dealing with the emotional components of infertility. Regardless of what your final outcome is (having a biological child, adopting, remaining childfree)--the situations people face during infertility are all too similar and all too painful. The author, through her poems and writings, really spoke to many of my own feelings. There are lots of books about treatment of infertility and the various options, but this is the only one I have found that deals with the emotional aspect in a specific manner. I recently gave it to a friend who was experiencing secondary infertility and she found it very helpful. Families who have a family member going through infertility can read this and gain a real perspective on what the couple is going through.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Heart of Infertility, January 15, 2001
This review is from: This Too Shall Pass (Paperback)
The author got to the heart and truth of the infertility matter. I see her as a pioneer in getting people to understand it better. She shows the very difficult times she went through, and how she got herself out of them. When she mentions Mother's Day, I think that she is just reminding others to go easy on infertile couples during that type of holiday. It's all a matter of perspective. The book gave me some things to think about. I'm glad I bought the book and would recommend others buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the whole family, August 18, 2000

This review is from: This Too Shall Pass (Paperback)
I found the book very helpful! My sister is going through infertility, and this book really helped me to better understand the depth of what she is going through. I liked it so much I bought copies for the rest of my family so they can help her emotionally also. I think it is brave of the author to be so open with her story in order to bring more understanding to the subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a beautiful blessing..., August 17, 2001

This review is from: This Too Shall Pass (Paperback)
Lori...I read your book...the whole thing in one sitting! It was truly wonderful. Your poems are lovely and passionate. You are a wonderful author. Your words were/are alive and breathing...they weren't empty like some books are. Does that make sense? Anyway, it was a blessing in my life and I'll be reading it again, more slowly. I'll be able to glean more that way. :) I usually read a book like that pretty quickly the first time so I can get the big picture then I read it again more slowly so I can ponder and internalize aspects that I am needful of. Thanks so much for taking the time to help others...you're a sweetie, Lori. :)

Thank you to the author for putting all of my feelings in front of me/us. I have given alot of my energy to becoming pregnant and things that I once enjoyed have become a hard chore. With this book, it will give you a sense of peace regardless of your religion. The 12 steps are very helpful and something I have ran copies of and placed them around our house. Another thing was the poems, each and everyone touched our heart and soul. My husband and I would read this together at times and then at times I would read it by myself. Thank you so very much for writing this little book.

This review is from: This Too Shall Pass (Paperback)
This book is amazing. If you do not believe in a higher power it is not for you. The author understands how we feel as she is going thrugh it too. This is a must have for all couples who just don't understand. Be prepared though, you will need a whole box of tissues.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS TOO SHALL PASS, July 10, 2000

EXCELLENT BOOK! AS THE MOTHER OF A DAUGHTER WHO HAS HAD INFERTILITY PROBLEMS I FIND THIS BOOK TO BE VERY MEANINGFUL. IT HAS MADE ME UNDERSTAND THE PAIN AND HEARTACHE THAT GOES ALONG WITH INFERTILITY PROBLEMS. I NEVER REALIZED HOW WHAT PEOPLE SAY (WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING IT) COULD BE SO HURTFUL TO INFERTILE COUPLES. I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO THE COUPLES EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS, AND TO THEIR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book that deals with a painful subject., May 28, 2000

I wish I'd had this book when I was going through the pains of infertility! This book can help those going through infertility realize the feelings they are having are normal, and offers ways to cope and hope. Anything that can help you deal with infertility is a blessing. This book is such a blessing. Infertility is very, very painful and can be very lonely, when no one else understands. It helps to read and know the author felt the same things I did! This book can also be helpful to the "fertile" world, to help them understand what those going through infertility are feeling and dealing with. There are suggestions to the fertile world of things to do or say to offer support, and things NOT to say! The book is a quick book to read - and reread. I loved the poems that were sprinkled throughout the book. I'm glad the author is trying to educate the fertile world, and also offer help to those going through infertility.
