This is a really great Southern Rock collection. All the major players are represented here(with one big exception),you get Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, Wet Willie, Elvin Bishop, ARS, 38 Special, Black Oak Arkansas- all the same songs that are on all the other Southern Rock collections. What is special here are all the bands that the other compilation don't have. You get Doc Holiday, Point Blank, Target and a generous helping of Sea Level, while still getting a extra large dose of vitamin Skynyrd (including a better selection than most other comps). Also, while most other SR collections are permanetly frozen in the past- this one has a really cool song from the up and coming Drive-By Truckers. All in all, this is a most excellent collection. My only gripe is that there are no Allman Brothers included, only a very weak pre-ABB song from the Allman Joys. Go figure? On the bright side, there is a very thoughtfull and insightfull reivew by Mr. P., the author of the book, "The Southern Rock Review" (which I highly recommend)

This is a great compilation of Southern Rock songs to start with. I bought this cd for the song "Mean To Your Queenie" by POINT BLANK. There was no other way of obtaining this song so their music is out of print. Another great song is "Dixie Rock" which in my opinion is WET WILLIE'S best song! Another standout group on this cd is "HOUR GLASS" which later became The ALLMAN BROS. "HOUR GLASS" has an album called "The Power Of Love" & it's worth having! This Southern Rock cd led me to buy & investigate other great southern bands like "Sea Level", "Dixie Dregs", Van Wilks, Stillwater, Dixie Werewolves, & a host of others.

This was Christmas gift for my Dad. He said he loved it. Had no problem with the quality of sound or damage of any kind.
