Loved It!,

This review is from: This Time Forever (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Our last contact we had with Kerry Everett was in her sister's story, "The Keys To My Heart" in the anthology A VERY SPECIAL LOVE.Janice Sims now brings us This Time Forever, featuring as the heroine, Kerry Everett, Police Chief of Damascus, Florida; and the hero, Maceo "Mac" Kent, FBI agent and ex-Marine Drill Sgt. PAST: Kerry and Mac have a past together from their days as marines. When they last saw each other, both made a decision to go pursue their own careers. But both leaving with broken hearts. PRESENT: Kerry has a murder incident that occurs in Damascus. There are similiar signs about this murder that resembles an FBI case that brings Mac to Florida. Now it's been ten (10) years since they last saw one another. They meet once again, on page 80 to be exact. You will begin to feel throughout the story that love has not died between Kerry and Mac. COMMENTS: I always look for certain things as I begin reading a romance book. For example, (1) The pace of the story, how easily it flows for me personally. I don't want a book I have to keep taking deep breaths as to whether I have patience to keep reading it or throw it across the room. (2) Now this is important to me, I want the author to at least introduce the hero and heroine within the first 100 pages of the story. I should not have to wait for over half of the book for them to make some kind of contact. I also want the plot to include the heroine and hero utilizing at least 60% of the book. (3) The overall plot has to be interesting enough for me to find it difficult to put the book down so I can get some sleep at night. Summary: Janice Sims has presented the answers to all my probing questions. The pace of the story itself was an easy flow that I kept turning the pages. It was like one of those all-nighter books that you want to stretch out for another day, so you can enjoy longer. She has the heroine and hero being together at least 60% of the book, which made me very happy! I enjoy those stories where the hero and heroine are reuniting. In this story, the author does not allow the heroine to be angry with the hero about the past to the point you want to slap her for whining throughtout most of the entire book before they make some connection. You don't find that in this book, I mean Kerry and Mac actually communicate with one another and not only discuss the past and its affects but the present. For those of us who were fortunate to get a peek at Kerry in her sister's story, Kerry is not short on words. So I like her type of personality. Kerry and Mac knew each other so well, you could actually visualize seeing this couple. So in concluding my review here, I strongly recommend that you read this wonderful story. You won't be disappointed and your money will be wisely spent. I also encourage you to check out her other published books: Her short stories in Anthology Collections:

You know when you were a child and you would wait for something good, like your birthday present or Christmas to come? Well, that's what I was doing while waiting for the sequel to "The Keys to My Heart" that's were we first met Kerry Everett. Now like when I was a child, I got just what I wanted for my birthday or Christmas present! That's right a book that once you start reading it you got to finish it. No matter if you got to go to work in the morning or now. Kerry and Mac's story is just has wonderful as I knew it would be. Kerry and Mac are made for each other a fact they knew when the met years ago. The only thing is that they were to prideful to admit it to one another. So, you have the making of a really good reunion story, along with a little murdered and mystery and throw in a little humor you got yourself "This Time Forever." If you read "The Keys to My Heart" you'll be happy to know that Kianna and Gabriel and Coco are in "This Time Forever." Now for those of you who haven't read "The Keys to my Heart" I suggest you read it first and then read "This Time Forever," this way you can get the full impact of these wonderful stories. Janice keep writing these wonderful stories and I'll keep reading them.

From Rendezvous Magazine October 2001 issue: Damascus, Florida--Chief of police Kerry Everett has her hands full when a murdered man is found in the city's junkyard. After Kerry does some investigation, she decides she needs to send for the FBI. Special Agent Maceo 'Mac' Kent is as surprised as Kerry is when he shows up in Damascus. They had once shared more than military training. Mac doesn't want to interfere in Kerry's investigation as she knows the townspeople better than he does. But he doesn't want anything to happen to Kerry either. So he works closely with her so they can find the murderer before he strikes again. A taut mystery with compelling characters and a tightly woven plot. JP

Too Good To Put Down!,

I am writing this review through puffed and blurred eyes because I just had to stay up and finish this book last night! "This Time Forever" is murder, intrigue, forgiveness, remembrance and passion all woven into a wonderful story. As her fans have come to expect, Janice Sims has delivered yet another page-turner.Police Chief Kerry Everett is a sister who has it going on. She's beautiful, sharp and trusted to protect the citizens of Damascus, FL. After one of the town's residents is brutally murdered, Kerry sets out to find the killer. When the FBI sends special agent Maceo Kent to Damascus to aid in the murder investigation we learn that Kerry will do everything in her power to protect her town and her heart. To say that Kerry and "Mac" have a history together is an understatement. They're two ex-marines who share a passion for law enforcement...and a few other things. Working closely on a murder investigation only heats things up for these two. I stayed up 'til the wee hours of morning for two reasons: To see if Kerry caught the killer and to see if Mac caught Kerry! The exciting storyline, the colorful characters, the descriptive writing and the passion are all here. Fans of Ms. Sims will be greatly pleased; new readers will see why the rest of us are hooked on her books! As with all Janice Sims novels, this is a must read!

This book is a perfect blend of mystery, suspense and romance the way only Janice Sims can deliver. Of all her books, this is definitely one of my favorites. With twists and turns and a surprise ending, it's a real page turner. Few writers can balance a sizzling romance in the middle of a murder mystery and keep the readers' interest on both stories, but Janice Sims does it very well. For readers everywhere, who want a little something extra than the typical romance novel, this is a must read!

Ms. Sims Forever!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: This Time Forever (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I've read all of Ms. Sims' other novels and get a thrill each time she issues up another evening of pure enjoyment. Such is the case with "This Time Forever." Ms. Sims' characters are "adults" with all pretenses striped away. That is what makes her novels stand out amoung the crowd of authors. Her characters don't simper and coo their way into each other's lives. Rather they march to a different drummer, heads up, shoulders back and take-no-prisoners attitudes. At the same time, the chemistry between her characters is like molten lava. The women aren't shy and retiring and the men don't have to beat their chests to be seen as men. If you're interested in reading about African American characters who are more than one dimentional, have interesting perspectives and are people you would really like to know, pick up any novel by Janice Sims. She doesn't know how to write an uninteresting novel.

A Love Worth Waiting For,
By Luv2Read "imareader2" (Baton Rouge, LA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: This Time Forever (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
"This Time Forever" is about eternal love. A love that lasts a lifetime. Kerry Everett's life has been incomplete without the true love of her life -- Maceo Kent. However, Kerry has not been alone. Mac's life has been void also. They both have dated other people, but there was still that emptiness that could not and would not be filled until their hearts unite as one. Kerry is truly one of the Everett women, who when they love -- they love. They listen to what their heart tells them and hold out for their man. Although, Kerry is a fiesty, tough woman, who has been a cop and is now Chief of Police, she is still a woman who has been waiting for her true love to return. When the town of Damascus is stunned by a murder that resembles a serial killing, the FBI is called in and who shows up? No one but Mac, who has no problem rekindling the fire that has slowly been simmering. It does not take much to relight and make a flame. The embers may have been lukewarm and on the back burner, but when Mac and Kerry come together again, the flicker definitely flames and are red hot. "This Time Forever" also reunites the reader with Kianna Everett and her husband Gabriel Merrick, who the readers met in "The Keys to My Heart" . Kianna is Kerry's sister. Readers will also enjoy Kianna's and Gabriel's story. Ms. Sims has another winner. "This Time Forever" is a wonderful, romantic, and suspenseful book. It's about family, love, and commitment. It is a book the reader will truly like. I surely did!
