Definitely one of their best........,

Take heed: this is now available as a two for one set. This Time We Mean It/ R.E.O. are available right here on Amazon, so get it! This Time We Mean It is one of the five REO albums everyone should own. That is, it is their fifth album, and their first five albums were great. The material is strong and does not have much in common with a lot of the pop drivel that the band turned out after Kevin Cronin returned on R.E.O. in 1976. I'm not saying everything they have done with Cronin has been bad, definitely not, he was on T.W.O.; it's just that I think they rocked harder and kept more of the blues/boogie focus with Murphy and with Luttrell on the first (and also their best) album. This Time is worth owning.

I've have found out through the years that people absolutly loved or hated Micheal Murphy on vocals,I loved him,and thought that all Kevin (pop) Cronin brought to REO was AM listeners,in other words he made them a pop rock band, but even though this charted the best out of his three albums with REO,I always thought it poor effort after "Lost In A Dream".I bought all three when first released on CD,and still to this day, with maybe the exception of "TWO" are my favorite REO albums.

This was the last in a 3 album series featuring Michael Murphy on lead vox...
This album is very hard to come by on cd...but if you care to save most of your hard earned $149 and wait for the next in a "2 for" series...that will be remastered as well...as the first two of this new reissue set were...It will be well worth the wait... I have been an REO fan since the bands inception and still wouldn't part with $149 for this cd...so take it from there. UPDATE: With the recent release of "This Time We Mean It/R.E.O".......I am glad it will FINALLY cut out the price gouging bloodsuckers who prey on those seeking to complete their collections but lack the budget to afford the ridiculous a price these jerks are demanding You know......most people only resort to bootlegs and downloads when they cant find the actual cd's by the artists of their choice......so let's keep a stock of these classic titles...and put the bootleggers and price gougers out of business....Once and for all. How about HEAD EAST?????? When will we see a remastered reissue of their complete catalogue??

A different REO flavor,

I bought this album in '75 and unfortunately it's not on disc anymore. I always liked the different sound Mike Murphy brought to it. It gave Gary Richrath a chance to experiment more with his guitar playing. I love all 3 records with Murphy. A bit more funky at times, but Murphy's voice was unique. Looks like most of the reviews only heard the Cronin years. To bad for them. I would hope some record label will re-release "This Time We Mean It", on CD, like they did for "Lost In A Dream" and "Ridin'the Storm Out". Good Memories listening to the Murphy years. Check it out if you can find it on LP. Listen up, Cronin!

This Time we Mean it is as bad as Lost in A Dream. However there is one song that is halfway decent called "Reelin", but that song can be found on A Decade of Rock and Roll. Please don't waste your money on a over priced compact disc. The album is out of print because it stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
