the movielife's best,

Although i love virtually everything that the movielife put out, this cd remains my favorite. i have been listening to this since it came out (thats over 3 years). it really is that good. this cd is packed with energy, but still is able to keep its pop sensibility. this came before the movielife moved on to bigger things (drive thru records) so it still has that natural, stripped down feel. its not overproduced, it just plain rocks. if you listen to punk, hardcore, pop-punk, or just plain rock you should definetly buy this cd. the movielife was a great band and it was hard to see them go.

I first got addicted to Movielife after seeing them open for New Found Glory about a year ago. They are getting big! wahoo they deserve it! They're cd titled, "This Time Next Year" is full of energy and fun. All of the songs on the cd are good, I especially like "Single white female", "pinky swear", "once in a row", "its monday and raining", "10 seconds too late" and "Another Friend". I went to go see them 2 months ago at Toads Place and they were opening for H20, but I only went to see them. They are the nicest people and a talented band. Buy the cd. You won't regret it.

This is a bad ass cd that which in an effect is great. Tell you about it I shall, this album rips ass it kills. This the second LP by the Movielife and argueably thier best. They have a masterful desire to mix old school, punk and pop which is pulled off excitivly. Anyways let's get to the songs, tops are Single White Female, Another Friend, This time next year and so on. The biggest and best thing that I loved about the movielife (and one of the things that seperated them from such contemporaries as New Found Glory and others) is the passion in which Vinnie sings his songs. He is honestly one of the best vocalists I have ever heard and was capable of crafting this band in such a incrediable mix of emotion, music and catchiness. This album is so catchy it just rocks, buy it for my humble words possess not the ability to objectivly review this record. In other words there is such an emotional level that I'm connected on this record. I've had many good times seeing the movielife, I have had many good times singin' along with these guys buy this record and be sad that they broke up.

This cd is really good. It mixes catchy pop-punk melodies and more a few more hardcore songs to make an album that really keeps your attention. It starts out with "I Hope You Die Soon", a fast and short hardcore song and end with "It's Monday And Raining", a slower ballad-type song that is still catcy despite the slower tempo. The songs in between all vary, but the overall sound of the album is pop-punk. Every song is catchy in its own way and they stand out from each other (for the most part). The guitar parts can stick in your head for hours, but the vocals can be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. On one hand, Vinny (the singer) had a nice, high singing voice that is good for conveying emotion, but on the other hand it sounds a lot like other singers in the genre, so it doesn't really stand out. The best comparison I can make is that he sounds a lot like Jordan Pundik of New Found Glory. The problem with this cd is that it fits in between genres. The blink-182 fans probably won't like it because it is too punky, but compared to actual hardcore it is more pop, so not everyone likes it. If you like bands such as MxPx (in their earlier days), New Found Glory or Taking Back Sunday you'll probably like The Movielife.

This album is so amazing! The Movielife are the best band around. Today's music scene is getting repetitive, it's refreshing to hear something unique and so great! These guys are also great live! So be sure to check them out AND BUY THIS ALBUM!

i bought this during a recent visit to the states after having "another friend" on mp3 for a while. this record is great and is classic example of what i think punk should be about, fun, passion and feeling. it has all of those with more to spare, the guitars are great, the bass lines rule, the drumming is some of the most energetic around and vinnie's voice is friggin' amazing. do yourself a favour and get this record now!, ben

Absolutely incredible!,

I heard this band for the first time on the Aversion Online website, and I was hooked from the note. I bought the disc, and was very pleasantly surprised. It is very poppy punk, but with much more of an Emo edge to it than most of the other bands out there, and there are some hardcore and even oi parts thrown in throughout. This cd is full of emotional lyrics, beautiful singing, catchy hooks, and killer choruses, so much so that you physically are unable to stop listening. I normally listen to death and black metal, and even I love this album, so i seriously doubt that anyone who considers themselves to be a music fan willl be disapointed by this. My one and only complaint is the length...12 songs in 26 minutes...could've been a bit longer, especially considering the price tag. But, this should not be a factor in anyone's decision process. Get this disc or miss out on something wonderful!
