There's little to prepare anyone for This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both of Us. It came on in the fall of 1974 like nothing one had ever encountered before. It's sheer volume and guitar work carried it into Hard Rock territory and even included a gun sound, yet it was totally light and madcap and sung in a rapid patter-song way reminiscent of Gilbert and Sullivan; sort-of the heavy metal version of Three Little Maids From School. And this in the era of Country Rock, Disco and bands like Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. The only thing that ever came close to it would be Queen but they were just beginning at this time. For a unique experience, try this song.
