About the Author
Katie Peterson was born in California. She is the author of a book of poems, This One Tree, published by New Issues in 2006, and she teaches poetry and the humanities at Deep Springs College in the California high desert.

Katie Peterson taught a poetry workshop I took in the days of my youth.,

She is beautiful and wonderful. Her book is equally beautiful and wonderful. I remember this time she took a piece of a tree that looked like a whole small tree and leaned it up against the wall of her one-room house and said, "Don't break my tree!" whenever I touched the branches.
