True music,

This is a great record. The more you listen, the more addictive the songs become. I actually got to witness the recording of some of this album, and now to see that people are buying it and enjoying it lets me know that the cd is as good as i thought it would be. I have alot of confidence in this band. Not only are they talented musicians, but they are good friends. There is something to their music that hooks you, although i still can't figure out exactly what it is. It's great to hear someone really singing over good melodic music. There is too much re-hashed garbage out there which keeps excellent music like this from being heard by most people, and that is unfortunate. I'm sure they will go far, so keep an eye out.

Good Lifetime-Esque Emotional Punk,
By Geoff Wagner (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews

Junction 18 sounds like a much poppier version of Lifetime; for the most part. The lyrics are well-written, and the musicianship is very good as well. Fearless Records classifies them as a mix between Weezer and Saves the Day, but I really don't here any Weezer in the mix of things. Anyways, so long as your not totally opposed to the ever so popular emo/punk hybrid, you should go buy this CD right away.

Easily the best "pop/punk emo" CD of all time.,

That's right, not only is this the best I've ever heard, it is certainly the best ever. I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but I bought this for no particular reason at a store when I saw they were on Fearless, and I'm very glad that I did. Sweet Steps, June and the Ocean, Granite Street Knife Fight, Adrift, Lucky as Mars, and Lost in Adeline are the best, but of course all the songs are terrific. Above the Avenue is my least favorite, it sounds slightly too much like Blink 182 to me, but I still enjoy it. Anyway, there's nothing much else to say. Just buy it.

you bet your punk lovin @ss they're from Boston!,

Putting everything good about this new school pop-punk stuff into a single record is Boston's Junction 18 and their Fearless debut "This Vicious Cycle". Straight out of the veins of bands like Saves The Day, Junction 18 has a technical and very tight sound that floats through the sea of sound waves perfectly mixing in with the easy melodies, emotional vocals, and the soothing feel that this 5 piece pumps out. Many question the originality in this genre of music but Junction 18 has the power and musical talent to break away from the other similar artists and put together a pop-punk record that you can put under your pillow while you sleep at night. Picking favorites on a record like this is pretty impossible. You listen to a song and your like "Man that song rocks, its my favorite on the record!" and then the next track gives you the same feeling. Some of the highlights, for me, are "Sweet Steps", "Lucky As Mars", "Turnabout", and "Granite Street Night Fight". Saves The Day fans DO NOT MISS this release. These guys have so much talent and song-writing ability it is unbelievable.

Best album of the year...,

Junction 18's debut album "This Vicious Cycle" is the best CD I've heard in a long time. With slow, melodic "Adrift" to hard, fast paced "Granite Street Knife Fight" you'll never take this one outta your cd player. If you like Weezer, A New Found Glory, or Saves The Day then buy this CD. You won't be disapointed.

Increadable, a must hear!,

This was an increadable album, considering I didnt like Emo/pop punk stuff but I decided to download a song (Sweet Steps which is now on of my fav songs ever!) and I couldnt believe how good it was so i went out and bought the album the next day to find it filled with good songs from start to finish which is rare these days. If you ever get the chance to hear them do it there not just another pop punk band so instead of hearing the mainstram stuff go into this you wont regret it.There siger has an amazing talent to write and is an excellent singer and their guitarist is very good and thats something most pop punk are missing. Recommended songs:

good, good album...and an even better debut,

this CD is probably the most impressing indie-release i have heard in the past year. i first heard the song "above the avenue" after finding it recommended somewhere. it is a very solid song, but the best was yet to come. interested in the talent of this band, i downloaded more songs hitting jackpot in "june and the ocean". this song is simply beautiful. other great songs on this album include "sweet steps", "granite street knife fight", "adrift" and the rest of the album. Junction 18 definatly has a future ahead of them if they can produce more high quality songs of this caliber. i can almost see J-18 doing better as a emo-punk/prog-rock crossover, a punkish radiohead if i must say. it took me forever to find their album in a store as well. support this excellent band and buy this fine album.anyone who can contact these guys please beg them to record a follow-up!

THIS CD IS DA BOMB McDIGGITY,
By Scud Johnson (Smoothguyburg, TL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: This Vicious Cycle (Audio CD)
This album is amazing. there is no other way to put it. the vocals are smooth and easy to sing along with. in an punk/emo scene filled with repetitive lyrics and sounds as well as bands that seem to copy cat one another, J-18 has a refreshingly original sound. No matter what kind of music you like, I strongly recommend Junction 18. The only question I have about this band is when does the next album come out? BUY THIS NOW.

A Jaw Dropping, Truly Awesome CD,
By Alucard (NY) - See all my reviews

I never really looked into these guys, I just thought they were another mainstream pop punk band. One day though, I decided to download "Dakota" and I was completely blown away. Junction 18 has an original, awesome sound that all fans of the genre will love. They mix a bit of alternative and punk to make a truly unique experiance that every pop punk fan will adore. It's good enough to impress fans of bands like Weezer, while it's got that pop punk charm that will put every NFG and Saves the Day fan in heaven. My favorites are: "Dakota", "June and the Ocean", "Granite Street Knife Fight" and "Lucky as Mars" but every song on this CD is outstanding. The guitaring, bass and drum work are great, and the vocalist is also good too, something that's rare in a pop punk band. These guys are a truly talented band and they really need to be heard by more people. So, instead of buying that mainstream Sum 41 ..., pick up this amazing CD, and listen to it over and over again. Trust me, this CD is really, really good.

Awesome...,

There are so many of these so-called pop/punk bands out now, but only a few of them are worth listening to. Junction 18 is definately thats worth a chance. "This Vicious Cycle" really has no bad songs on it and you can tell this band has talent. Its ashame that most of the good bands today like Junction 18 never get the respect they deserve, while garbage like Creed and Bare Naked Ladies control the air-waves. If you're into bands like The Ataris or Weezer then you'll probubly like Junction 18.
