4.0 out of 5 stars oh, how i've missed new music from glassjaw
Completely agree with the person who states that Secret Lives sounds like Glassjaw. While I suppose it could be considered that they're ripping off Glassjaw, I consider it a good thing since we may never hear new music from Glassjaw again, despite fall tour rumors. This cd would probably also be enjoyed by fans of the bled, silverstein, and underoath.

3.0 out of 5 stars Eh, Ripoff.
I haven't listened to this cd THAT much. I give them credit for having talent, but they basically stole their talent from Glassjaw. The leader sounds like an exact ripoff of Daryl. Oh well I guess.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Seriously Amazing Disc, May 20, 2007
This review is from: This Was Built to Make You Dance (Audio CD)
I have been an avid listener of this genre for twenty years, and so it is understandable when I say that after a while you can get a sense of 'disenchantment' with the direction that some of your favorite music is heading towards. This CD, however, singlehandedly restored my faith in the punk sound. As it keeps with the new sound of 'punk' as defined today, it made me realize that there are bands out there that can still make me feel, and can still make me believe in the messages that this scene is sending. Secret Lives is an amazing young band, dripping with talent. This disc has yet to drop airtime on my ipod for more than a week since the day it came out (and I own 3000+ CDs). I eagerly await their sophomore CD, but until then, would recommend this CD to anyone who feels like they just need a great CD to restore their faith in this genre of music. Thanks again, SL!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a find!, January 3, 2007
This review is from: This Was Built to Make You Dance (Audio CD)
People mention the similarities to glassjaw and I can hear it sometimes but honestly these guys bring their own swing so I wouldn't get caught up in that crap. I heard them by chance one day and decided to try and hear more of thier stuff. After listening to "Make like a door.." I knew I liked it. These guys give you melody when you least expect it and the songs will get in your head and you'll be singing them back thinking "damn! this is a good CD." I took a chance and looked them up and I have no been sorry at all, their songs are not predictable and they give you something in each song you'll remember. Give it a try and enjoy!

It feels so good to be excited about a band again. I got randomly friended on myspace by these guys and am so grateful. I listened there and then bought their album and its all I've been able to listen to since. Forget downloading, this cd is worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars smooth hard charging emo-screamo rock, June 2, 2005
This review is from: This Was Built to Make You Dance (Audio CD)
These guys from NC bring a new smooth angle edge to emo; dare I say could bring emo to mainstream radio; God forbid! The vocals of Worsham and songwriting from Debardi and the band are incredible. Charlotte and Asheville's favorite band have emerged with a sure winner in this album. The album is full of energy just like their live performances.
