This is an interesting book. It gets a bit far fetched near the end. I would probably read another by this author, though it would have to be less fantasy and more reality as the North Way is in the beginning.
This is a fascinating book by an extremely talented artist and writer that manages to explore the (real) life and works of artist Joseph Beuys through the (fictional) life of the lead character - a hot-shot Wall Street executive who is torn between his yuppie lifestyle and his love of adventuring in the frozen wilds of the Arctic Circle. The author clearly knows so much about all of his subjects, and is able to draw the reader in equally to all these worlds. An excellent and challenging read.
A great, well-written book that follows a man's journey of self-discovery as he navigates the dangers of Wall Street and the dangers of the Arctic wild--he survives one, but will he survive the other? Great novel for the businessman in your life, especially if your guy isn't a big reader. This novel will capture his interest with authentic detail and pull him along on a great adventure!
Surviving the wild. Having the courage to tackle the unknown. Risking everything to start over. THIS WAY NORTH takes readers to places few dare to travel, and where even fewer survive. You'll forget you are reading a work of fiction as you join main character Jack Wyler on the ride of his life.
