This is the 2nd copy I have purchased - left the first with a friend in the states 'cause we couldn't find one there! WHY! Is the most played CD in my collection. Bluesy, funky, great lyrics, a very interesting group of players, what more could you ask. Can't recommend highly enough. Yes I am Australian, but no I am not biased. Do yourself a favour and buy this CD

the cruel sea is probably the most happening band in australia at the momment. the album has a unique "hard edge" sound. the album needs at least two listenings to really appreciate the bands great sound. well worth a look.

Compared to their two previous LP's Three legged dog is a lot harder to listen to. On this album they seem to move away from the country influences that can be heard on the earlier albums and focus more on gritty, hard edged blues/rock, which results in less melodic content. Apart from "Better get a lawyer", the rest of the album starts to grate after repeated listenings. Good in parts.

Australian Bands Are Way Too Underrated!!!,

This review is from: This Is What It Is (Audio CD)
Unfortunately, many, and I do mean 'many', Australian bands do not get the recognition that they should overseas as they do within Australia. Bands like The Cruel Sea, Regurgitator, Grinspoon and many others, have partially broken through the all-american favourites, but still don't get enough distribution that an honest, hard working band should get. Only now are they being noticed with bands such as Silverchair and Living End crashing into american charts. But this is only a very meagre start.
