5.0 out of 5 stars Albums that should have sold more..., July 15, 2010
This review is from: This Is Where I Stand (Audio CD)
Some bands make great albums and for reasons beyond their control, the wider world never gets to hear them and they fade into obscurity unfairly - The Sounds experienced it recently with Crossing the Rubicon, an amazing album that should have put them up with the Killers - and 5 years ago it happened to Easyworld. The most obvious comparison is Ash but the underlying song writing is more rounded/mature (probably written on piano) and less punk. What you get are just amazingly catchy verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/outro pop/rock classics - simple and straightforward - they're a guilty secret you'll come back to time and again on your ipod inbetween Radiohead and that Neu album you know you should listen to so you don't feel out of place when you read the next "best new band" in NME banging on about how they listened to a lot of krautrock for their second album. I think Rivers Cuomo once said, after all the music he'd listened to and tried to write, he was still love with the idea of the 3 minute pop song. Me too, I love this album.
