This Works, Crutches Don't: Why Healing Your Bowel Will Eliminate Your Symptoms, Illness, Addictions, And Weight Struggles And Why Crutches-Diets, Vitamins, Drugs, Exercise, Etc.-Don'tPaperback– May 4, 2009
Donna Pessin, Certified Nutritional Consultant, developed the unique, life-changing program presented in this book. Many years ago, it cured her of her "incurable" autoimmune disease, alcoholism, and severe food allergies after all other approaches had failed. For the last 16 years, she has been passionately devoted to helping others in her successful private practice in Boulder, Colorado. She consults with clients from all over the country as well as other parts of the world. All together, she spent over 35,000 hours figuring out how to heal the body by healing the bowel. My massage therapist told me about Donna and her book, he said she was teaching some pretty new, revolutionary stuff on how to heal your gut. I am so thankful he told me about her. I've read her book almost 3 times now (she recommends this) and I've seen her twice. She is definitely on the mark. I have suffered from GI issues for 12 years, and had been eating basically veggies and proteins, because I couldn't tolerate grains, wheat, dairy, corn etc. I have suffered extreme pain as well as extreme bloating and distention despite being in good shape. I've had it with avoiding everything, feeling like an outcast and feeling "fat". Her book is necessary and the word needs to be spread about how to truly heal your gut, which is by re-building your flora, which by the way won't happen with yogurt, you have to work on this for at least a year or more and take high doses of probiotics or her supplement bowel strength. This is not a quick fix program, but I believe it works. She also teaches you ways to feel better now with crutches, while you are staying the course to re-build your flora. Eventually you won't need to take any supplements, and your body will tell you when you're finished with the process. If you've tried everything and nothing works for you, then you have absolutely nothing to lose by reading Donna's book and starting to learn about how to heal your gut, the logical way.
I've been in the alternative health field as a consumer and a practitioner for 35 years...In her book, This Works, Crutches Don't, I believe that Donna brings light and truth to the topic of health. Donna Pessin happens to live in my town and I am a client of hers. I have had IBS for 21 years and have had a better gut in the last 9 months than the last 21 years. My vitality has increased so that I have more energy than I've had in 5 years. I want everyone I love to have a healthy gut. Donna's program is easy to implement and very doable. You can't lose. Your health can only improve. I say READ THIS.
The most poorly written book I've ever read! It's repetitious, filled with silly analogies and is terribly disorganized. If there is anything of value in this book, it is near impossible to find, the writing and structure being so profoundly convoluted. The "author" advises one to read it several times, so valuable is the information. It would take several readings just to slog through the mess to figure out what the heck she is trying to say. If this book is meant to promote her suppliment, "Bowel Strength", it fails. It would be difficult to trust a product developed by one who cannot write a coherent paragraph. Don't waste your money. But if you do, for god's sake, don't read it multiple times, it only gets worse.
this book was awful. i can't believe how far i had to read before i found out what i could eat on this "diet." and how much i had to look for it! this is the worst book i've read in a very, very long time. she has many, many typos in the book. and she constantly repeats herself. and it isn't even well written. it's AWFUL! how i wish they gave the ability to read this book prior to purchasing it! i could have saved some money.
