The crane arm moves and has a magnet at the end so he can pick up cargo and other trains.

Kevin is a must have addition to my son's Thomas Wooden Railway System. He wanted Santa to bring the Sodor Steamworks complete with Victor and his assistant Kevin. I was happy Santa was able to make him happy with this addition.

However, I was a bit disappointed. Kevin is a crane, and as such does not travel on the tracks. So, fitting under the bridges and traveling on the tracks is not a concern since that is not what his job is. (Although his wheel base does allow for travleing easily on the tracks.) His job is to move items for Victor. As such, I would expect him to do his job as best as his "slippery hook" would allow. I am disappointed that he came with a special, smaller cargo box. It doesn't appear that way in the picture. It seems his hook can only really carry the smaller cargo, which is difficult to find. So - do NOT loose the one he came with. It is frustrating that his hook will not stay up with the larger, more common cargo boxes.

I was also disappointed in that for being part of the "Wooden Railway System", he is made of mostly plastic (about 3/4's of his body). The only wooden part is the black base, and the small yellow section his face is attached to. For that much plastic, he should be available for a MUCH lower price (under $10).

Just received this today, so can't attest to it's durability.. My son preferred this train over all other Thomas trains at the store. We often go to stores that have train tables and he kept "stealing" this one from other kids and crying when we leave and had to leave it behind, so ofcourse had to buy it :-) Found it on Amazon about $7 cheaper than other places. He LOVES this train!! took it to bed with him tonight. I don't know how long the block will last before it's lost. But he doesn't care! The crane doesn't stay up very well though, and with it up he won't fit under the train bridge, which is frustrating for my son.

I was a little disappointed that this item is mostly plastic. You pay more for items from the Wooden Railway collection and I'm finding more and more of these characters are getting plastic add-ons. His body is wooden but the rest is plastic. And the little block that comes with it...cute idea but his crane is not sturdy enough to hold the actual wooden cargo blocks that come with the train sets which is very frustrating for my son because the little block that comes with Kevin gets lost among the others and so when he grabs a wooden block instead it does not work.

Overall my son's loves it, as he does all of his Thomas items. But Mom was a little upset to pay a high price for a wooden toy that doesn't live up to the reputation that LC Wooden Railway items have.

This little train car has offered my 2 yr old grandson many hours of entertainment. It appears to be well made and is easy for his small hands to handle. Definitely worth the money!

I purchased this for my 3 yr old nephew back in May. He hasn't lost the sodor piece yet. That means he loves it and doesn't want to miss place it. I do have to keep an eye on his 1 yr old sister to make sure she doesn't put it in her mouth. So far so good!

Kevin is one of my son's favorites and has remained so for many weeks. The product is constructed well and it gets well abused as do all things for my 2 yr old.

one of my favorite thomas trains that my son has- he loves it the best! he now knows how to spell SODOR. he loves the magnetic part of the crane because he likes pulling his other thomas trains that have a magnetic end piece on the crane. he has been playing with it for already an hour. he's really happy! i highly recommend this train.

My two-year-old grandson has quite a collection of Thomas trains. He loves the stories and videos of all the characters and had been talking about Kevin for some time. As soon as he opened the package, he started saying, "Sorry, Boss," which is what Kevin says all the time. Kevin was quite a hit with my grandson.
