I had edition 6e for cal 1 and recently purchased this edition
for cal 2. This version is much better. People who already know
calculus tell me how great edition 6e is, but the problem is that
this textbook is intended for 19-20 year olds(for the most part)
who are only being exposed to calculus for their first or second
time. 6e problems skip alot of algebraic manipulations which
can have you struggling for days, only to find out that you missed
something basic,even in the solutions manual, the 12th edition fixed
alot of those problems. Also, in 6e the excerises at the end of the
chapters will have a few equations and then kill you with word problems,
this is a problem for me because I am a mathlete and enjoy solving equations.
I understand they want you to be able to analyze and not just go through the steps, but at least put some equations in there and most of my test questions were
equations. To sum up,the 12th edition is way more user/beginner friendly than 6e.

Calculus 3 Text, October 22, 2011

This was a required textbook for my third semester of Calculus. My previous two classes had different text requirements and the campus bookstore did not have one with out the computer software add on license, which the professor was not going to use. So, Amazon to the rescue and with a quick turn time, a text book arrived just in time before classes started. I will be trying to get a little lead time for the upcoming semester and shopping early with the prof.s choices known! Remember, Amazon got it's start with books and still does it right.

I hate math and only took it as a requirement. I therefore can't rate the quality of the book. But it was in an excellent condition when I got it
