This review is from: Thomas Edison (In Their Own Words) (Mass Market Paperback)
I picked up this book in a garage sale as a gift for my 10 year old son. We both enjoyed reading about Thomas Edison's childhood, his first job, his blunders and his ingenius inventions.
As he says in his own words: "I have got so much to do and life is so short, I'm going to hustle." He did hustle, and he perfected about over 1,000 new inventions He didn't only invent the light bulb, as thought by so many people. he also invented the first recorded sound (phonograph), the first WORKING video camera, was the first to create a movie with a plot (story line) he also mined for metals and made cement from limestone. the old Yankee Stadium was built with thomas edison's company's cement. He was hoping that the automobiles would run on electricity, so he produced better and longer lasting batteries... this book tells us all of the amazing inventions one man did at the turn of the century (him being the one who actually TURned the century with his inventions) |
