My 5 year old son got this for his birthday. There are so many different ways to connect the pump. Thomas will whistle, engine will fire up, railway mechanic can brush Thomas clean, clean out his funnel. You can even tighten Thomas' wheels. It's a fun toy. It's a little hard for my son to get the parts into the mechanic's hands, but he has fun using them by himself, without the mechanic. For someone who loves Thomas, this is great!!!
