5.0 out of 5 stars THE THIRD TIME'S A CHARM!
After three attempts, Alec Baldwin, the narrator has put some life into the characters that was missing from his earlier efforts on "Cranky Bugs" and "Races and Rescues." As the editorial review suggests, this video is scarier and more suspenseful than earlier Thomas stories, so I don't consider it suitable for children under 5. "Spills and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Too scary for younger children
We bought this video for our 2 and a half year-old. Well, shame on me, I should have previewed it before we popped it into the VCR. She loves Thomas and his friends, but the stories on this tape are pretty frightening for such a young child. I think we'll put this back into the closet until she's 4 or 5. The only part she really enjoyed was the cute little...

As the editorial review suggests, this video is scarier and more suspenseful than earlier Thomas stories, so I don't consider it suitable for children under 5. "Spills and Chills" introduces a new character, Boulder, a big round rock with a pouty face that is probably the most clever Thomas character yet. "Spills and Chills and Other Thomas Thrills" would be a fine addition to your Thomas video library.

A Kid's Review
Thid is a good video. In this video, Alec Baldwin does a wonderful variety of voices. Even though some moments are sort of scary, it is a good video.
The story stops are:
Toby's Discovery
Rusty and the Boulder
Duncan Gets Spooked
Stepney Gets Lost
Haunted Henry
Sir Topham Hatt's Holiday
The Music Video:"Every Cloud has a Silver Lining"

5.0 out of 5 stars For Thomas Lovers, April 8, 2003

This review is from: Thomas and Friends - Spills and Chills and Other Thomas Thrills (DVD)
I owned the video, and after it wore out I bought the DVD. My 5 and 2 year old kids love Thomas, especially the 2 year old. Kids with imagination will love these stories. Alec Baldwin does a great job narrating, and the primitive graphics allow the kids brains to bring the characters to life. If your kid is a whimp, sit with him when watching the Boulder episode, 2nd time thru they'll be OK.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thomas fans will rejoice, October 11, 2000

A video that made my kids rejoice!! When my kids invited me to watch this video, I thought that it would be lame. But what I got was a very nice video. My favourite one was when stepney was almost scrapped. A good video and well done to Alec Baldwin for good narrating. But parents be warned...this is not a video for squimish kids. I thought that it was a bit extreme for littles but for oldens i would reccomened it!! It was the best even for me.

When we recieved this DVD as a gift I was a bit apprehensive, then I watched it. My son's face lit up at the action and adventure that Thomas and friends provided. He ask me all the time to watch "boulder" video. Boulder is a character in the movie. Now when he goes to bed I ask him to tell me a story, and he tells me about boulder. I nearly cried at how cute he was telling me about the boulder on a cold night on the island of sodor. I recommend this for all parents of Thomas lovers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thomas and his friends are back again!, April 27, 2000
By A Customer
Alec Baldwin surprised my son a whole lot with his first tape "Cranky Bugs". However, since Britt Allcroft decided to make her own track (no pun intended) and create some of her own stories, they seem to lose interest quickly, and teach nothing. Rather then teaching a value to children, such as, making fun of somebody, then needing their help, (Thomas and Terrance) the children learn no values, and are only merely entertained. Sure, the children learn not to touch things that they should in "Boulder", and enjoy Pete Sam's quick revenge in "Duncan Gets Spooked", but stories like "Toby's Discovery" lose all interest after several repeated viewings. However, I'm also sure that with Britt Allcroft's movie on Thomas;" Thoma and the Magic Railroad" (Teaser included) that she's much more concerned about her giant leap, from playing model trains, to live action actors in Chroma Key. Of course that's just my opinion! :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Thomas Video!, April 10, 2000

Spills and Chills was great! It was funny when Peter Sam and Rusty spook Duncan and it's very fun to watch Boulder chase Rusty, Skarloey and Rheneas down the big hill. This video introduces 6 new characters: Bertram, Arry, Bert, Thumper, Boulder and Tigermauph the Bi-plane. It is a must-have for any Thomas fan. (On this video, my favourite episode is Toby's Discovery)The music video Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining is also on the video at the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great video. . .but I found some goofs., January 22, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Thomas and Friends - Spills and Chills and Other Thomas Thrills (DVD)
I have this Thomas video on VHS rather than DVD. It is a great Thomas realease! I got it for Christmas when I was 4 or 5 years old. The stories are good too. My favorite one is Haunted Henry or Duncan gets spooked. The song is good too! I also found some goofs. In Rusty&The Boulder, when Rusty says to Skarloey "yes, but how", if you look closely at his eyes as they move, they cross! In Haunted Henry, when the freight cars fall off the cliff, one of the cars' faces almost falls completly off. In Duncan gets spooked, the "ghost engine" is the Skarloey modul engine.(this is noticable because skarloey has a flat cab, and so does the ghost engine). Put aside the goofs and you've got yourself a GREAT Thomas video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spills and Chills, February 7, 2003
A Kid's Review
I found this tape very exciting and hardly scary. One of the best Thomas tapes ever! Lots of people think this is too scary for kids. WRONG! Of course this really matters on what kind of kid you have. In most stories there is a lot of darkness and sounds like creaks, owls, etc... but turn out with a good lesson in the end; not to be afraid of the dark. If you plan to buy this tape, you have made a good choice. Great minds think alike, I guess.
