5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for any Thomas fan!
My three year old son is a huge Thomas fan, and he loves this CD! We play it at least once a day. I love the CD myself and love singing the songs along with my son. We listen to the CD while playing with his Thomas trains, but also take it along with us in the car.

My three year old son is a huge Thomas fan, and he loves this CD! We play it at least once a day. I love the CD myself and love singing the songs along with my son. We listen to the CD while playing with his Thomas trains, but also take it along with us in the car.

The songs are extremely catchy and lyrics are provided. Some of the songs teach important lessons without sounding too parental. 'Boo Boo Choo Choo' talks about not being afraid of the dark, and the 'Rules and Regulations' song is pretty self explanatory.

My only complaints: at the beginning of 'Come for the Ride' there is an annoying voice-over for a couple of seconds, and there isn't a musical lead-in on 'Night Train' like there is in the Sing-Along version on the 'Spills and Chills' DVD. I may be being biased here, because these two songs are our favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars "We Are The Workers / Stoking the Boilers / Of Sodor's Industry...", February 3, 2006

Wow! What a great CD! My just-turned-two-year-old loves to play with his trains, and while he enjoys the television show, he's FAR more interested in the music. After a long car ride with the mind-numbing ditties of Elmo, Jay Jay the Jet Plane, and even Caillou (whom I adore, but let's face it, the voice gets to you after awhile), these songs are a breath of fresh air, I guess because the lyrics are often poetic and refreshing in a children's CD; the music is also varied and well-performed. So while I've tried to steer the poor child away from squeaky-voiced toddler music (which, let's be honest, he loves) and toward the more adult-friendly kids CDs (such as "For the Kids," which he doesn't), this one seems to strike a perfect chord. James' Song and Little Engines are our favorites. The other Thomas CD is almost as good but I chose to write a review for this one because I think the songs are just a little more sophisticated, and the music is really beautifully done. Bravo, Thomas!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for kids AND Parents!, January 11, 2005

This Thomas CD is just as good as the other ("Roundhouse Rhythms"), though I'm glad I have both, just for a little variety. My 4-year-old son, the train fanatic, got them both for his birthday and that's all we've listened to since. The music and lyrics are very well done - sophisticated enough for the adults and fun enough for kids. A great choice for those kids who already have every Thomas toy or video produced, or for those parents who don't want to introduce a lot of TV time OR a lot of small toys to buy/step on/lose.

I bought "Thomas' Trainside Tracks" a few months ago, expecting it to be as entertaining as "Roundhouse Rhythms." Unfortunately, it did not fulfill my sons' expectations. While "Roundhouse Rhythms" was filled with songs from the Thomas videos (a great buy if your children watch the videos as often as mine do), "Thomas Trainside Tracks" had several songs that we had never even heard before. My children were disappointed that there were so few songs they recognized. However, there are a few popular Thomas songs that make it worth the purchase: "You Can't Judge A Book By Its Cover," "Night Train," "Come For The Ride," "Percy's Seaside Trip," and of course the "Thomas Anthem."
By the way, if anyone knows where I can get a Thomas CD containing the songs "Island Song" and "Snow Song," I would greatly appreciate it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like the Soundtrack from a Musical -- For Kids, September 11, 2003

This review is from: Thomas & Friends: Thomas Train Yard Tracks (Audio CD)
I checked this CD out from the library before buying it and was instantly hooked, so I bought a used copy from an Amazon.com Marketplace seller. The first and last tracks are music from the Thomas shows, and the rest are original songs sung by children about the various characters and story themes. The song melodies, lyrics, and performances are top rate. Each song feels a little like it came from a Broadway musical, and although there is a very unified style, the songs are unique enough that they don't all sound the same. My 2 1/2 year old loves this CD and I don't mind playing it over and over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our first Thomas CD--and what a hit!, March 3, 2003

This review is from: Thomas & Friends: Thomas Train Yard Tracks (Audio CD)
My 2-1/2-year-old son can't hear this CD often enough...which is all right with me, because I also enjoy the upbeat music, sweet English children singers, and valuable lessons taught in many of the songs. Just putting the music on sends my son running to his Thomas train set to play with all the friends he hears about in the songs. But the music also comes with us in the car, where it keeps him entertained. I would highly recommend this music for any little Thomas fans.
