My son is 4 years old and has to play with his Thomas the Tank Engine figure 8 set at least once a day! It is a wonderfully sturdy toy (he has had it for over 2 years) and this is a set you can build on. As time passes add extra track, more engines and before you know it your child has constructed a train empire! My only wish is why couldn't Thomas the Tank Engine had been around for me and my siblings! Enjoy!

Thomas the tank engine track is a must for train lovers. The track is made of sturdy wood. The joints in each piece of track are strong and won't leave you looking for another train set. My son has even taken this in the bathtub and its still just as strong. Its a quiet toy that brings out big imaginations.

Thomas the Train products have always been a favorite for preschoolers, and is often the center of attention at preschools. The Cincinnati Musuem Center, for example, recognizes Thomas the Train products in its children's centers. It is the only product the musuem endorses. The train pieces are perfect sizes for little hands and big imaginations. The figure eight set is a great starter kit. What makes Thomas products most appealing for adults is that you can continue to build-on your train set at a reasonable price over time. And with each build-on your child will erect more and more imagination skills. The cars connect using magnetic energy, making the train pieces easy to handle for young children who are still developing motor skills. In my book of toys to have, Thomas train products are a must have item.

Oh the joys of wooden trains! My 4 year old has a set of these trains- he will not share Thomas or the Caboose or the tracks with his 2 year old brother- Yes, the only way to peace in this household is to start a new collection for the baby! who, by the way is quite adept at putting the tracks together and choo-chooing along the way! Wonderful toy!

Better beware - you don't get what is illustrated on the screen (i.e. a full set) - the name is the giveaway - it is an expansion pack and you need to buy the "figure of 8 set" first (dollar amount) before you get what you see on screen - a swiz, no? - by the way, that is why I give 1 star -otherwise 5 stars if you pay for the extras ...

My son loves his Figure 8 Train Set! He spends part of each day totally engaged in playing with it. That is unusual given a preschooler's short attention span. He rearranges the track quite often, which builds his creativity. He also recreates stories from the Thomas the Tank Engine videos. For example, the story where Gordon then Thomas got stuck in a ditch was recreated with Clarabel and Annie helping Thomas out of a "ditch". Then he pretended that Thomas was Gordon and had Clarabel and Annie pull "Gordon" out. So, not only does it help creativity, it also encourages pretend play! Parents, you will like this toy because you can continue to add to it (more engines, tracks, figures, buildings), and thereby keep it fresh as your child ages. The tracks are very sturdy and well-made. The only fault that keeps the set from receiving 5 stars for durability is that the paint on Thomas and the coaches is easily chipped. Nevertheless, this toy was definitely worth its price!

We bought this set when my son was 21 months old. He absolutely loves it! It stays on our living room floor at all times, and he likes to take Thomas and Percy to bed with him at night. The only thing that can be a bit frustrating is the small overpass bridge is hard for his little hands to manuever back into place, and we have to help him everytime it falls over.

My 3 year old received this train set for Christmas and has loved it. We passed over other train sets to get this one after hearing the testimonial of a salesperson who has collected the series for two years for her son. It's durable, and at 3, he can put it together by himself. This is the perfect starter set for the money and by adding some extra straight track, a small child can climb in the middle of the track, eliminating the need to reach over the track which short three year old arms don't do well. We've already stocked up on additional Thomas pieces for our son's birthday!

These trains, and movies are our kids favorites. They have played with them for the past 3 years, and still play with them every day. They have learned numbers and colors from the various engines in the Thomas family.The durability is unmatched, and we envision them giving the trains to their children some day.

My younger baby was recently in the hospital and I brought this out for my son(I had this for a few months and had put it away)it didn't take him long to figure out how it works. He can't wait for me to put it out in the morning for him to play with.
