This is a great addition to the wooden Thomas collection. However, customers should be aware what comes in the box is not as pictured here. The stock photo shows a reindeer crossing sign (very cute) and the little red caboose with a green top/icicles. The box actually came with a little green tree and the red caboose is holiday but no green roof with icicles. Minor changes, I'm sure it's a different year's version or something. A little disappointed b/c I preferred it as pictured, but not a huge deal either. Just a heads up to other buyers! It is listed as both in the written description of this item in different places. As usual with Thomas products, good quality track, nice trains/cars and motorized Thomas seemed to have no problem pulling his load.

Bought this for my 3 1/2 year old for Christmas and I just took it out and set it up to check it out. It's a classic wooden Thomas set, plenty wide enough to go around the tree. The details are very cute. Thomas is sprinkled with "snow," and the gift car is designed like a Christmas present and plays Jingle Bells when pressed. The caboose is adorned with wreaths. It's just as described and I can't wait to give it to my daughter on Christmas Eve! I know she will love it! The track is compatible with other wooden Thomas sets, and is very sturdy. Highly recommended for young Thomas lovers!

I love the around the tree thomas train. It will last us for many years and all the kids regardless of their age love to play with it.

I was very pleased with this starter train set.
It is just right for my two year old son. My niece is three, and she happens to enjoy this as well. It moves very slowly. I highly recommend this toy for toddlers.

We loved this train last year when we bought it. I'm really disappointed that the Thomas train no longer works. The only way to get a new Thomas is to buy the whole set again. It's not much fun unless Thomas goes around the tree himself. It only lasted one Christmas for this family. So sad.

Overall, this is a great toy. The wooden tracks are well made, my son (17mths old) could put them together. He loves the musical caboose and would not stop pressing the bow to get the Jingle bells tune going. The downside is that within a day, jingle bell would not play to the end of the tune. it would stop earlier and earlier.. i suspect it has to do with the battery....
The Thomas train is battery operated too and it even has a light in the front. It could pull the caboose around very well. and we it could climb uphill too on our other tracks. However i wished that the wheels are the non-locking type so that the train can be used without battery.... btw, its a die-cast train. the caboose is wooden.
Last point... its kinda expensive i think. i just found that you can get similar thomas trains with christmas theme song musical caboose for less that 20$ at other online sites. If i had known earlier, i would have done that since we already have tracks at home.

My son loves the battery powered Thomas. He tried to clean the "snow" off of Thomas!
