5.0 out of 5 stars Huxley didn't get it., November 23, 2011
By
This review is from: Thomas Henry Huxley's Place in Science and Letters: Centenary Essays (The University of Georgia Humanities Center Series on Science and the Humanities) (Hardcover)
This is a splendid collection of papers written by experts in different fields. I have read books about Huxley but this tells me all sorts of things I didn't know such as some chap had the idea of recapitulation back in 1790s.
One impression from the different papers is that Huxley never understood natural slection. Despite being 'Darwin's Bulldog", he just didn't get it.
Dip into these essays and get some new ideas about the past.
