This is a record of the family of Thomas James, Clerk of Kingston Parish in Gloucester County, Virginia, 1783-1792, 1796, and his wife, Betsy. Part 1 is a record of many unconnected items relative to early James families in several of the old, tidewater counties of Virginia. Part II traces five generations of the ancestry of Thomas James. Part III is devoted to the descendants of Thomas James. His eleven children are designated by Roman numerals I to XI. Each of these forms a complete chapter. Written by Elizabeth Hogg Ironmonger, of Seaford, Virginia in April 1961.
