About the Author
Edward Sylvester Ellis was an American author born in Ohio in 1840. He was a teacher, school administrator, journalist and the author of hundreds of publications written under his own name and several pseudonyms. Ellis is probably best known for his Deer Hunter novels that were widely read by young boys up until the 1950's. After writing fiction for over thirty years, Ellis changed his focus in the mid 1880's. He began composing more serious work of biography and history. Ellis died at Cliff Island, Maine at the age of 76.
