About the Author

Thomas Kinkade emphasized simple pleasures and inspirational messages through his art. Thom believed that both the ability and inspiration to create his paintings had been given to him as a gift. His goal as an artist was to touch people of all faiths and to bring peace and joy into their lives through the images he created. Kinkade was the creator of both the Angels Island and the Cape Light series.

Katherine Spencer was a fiction editor before turning to a full-time career as a writer. The author of more than thirty books, she also writes the Inn at Angel Island series, as well as the Black Sheep Knitting Mysteries under her real name, Anne Canadeo. She lives with her husband and daughter in a small village on the Long Island Sound. Outside of her office, she is active in many community charity projects.

The Cape Light series is one of the best of its kind. We meet the people of Cape Light in each book, but each book can also stand alone - you do not have to read the previous books in order to enjoy this one. You can pick this book up and enjoy it and know the people right from the beginning

In 'Songs of Christmas' we meet Amanda who has studied cello and longs for a job with an orchestra in order to use her talents. She comes home still looking for a job and a bit discouraged. Will she ever be able to use her musical talent and will she ever find a marriage like her father has?

One of the most unlikeable characters in Cape Light is Lillian. She is set in her ways and yet her daughters and husband have such patience with her - one just longs for someone to tell her to stop her critical ways. Her husband has a heart attack and also breaks an arm and a leg. Lillian insists he recover at home instead of a rehab center. A nurse, originally from El Salvador comes to help and has to withstand Lillian's horrid behavior. She is a widow with 2 children to support and a mother too. How will they survive Lillian and a violent storm that is added into the plot?

It is a storyline that has much more to it, despite the fact that you know what is going to happen, but it is still an enjoyable read. There is a Christian element with the Christmas holiday and many of the activities that center around the village church.
Needless to say this is a Christmas story and one that shows the spirit of love and charity and best of all forgiveness. Cape Light is a wonderful place to spend part of your holiday or actually any time of the year. You would enjoy meeting some interesting characters and the charming place they live in.

Another great Cape Light book. I look forward to the Cape Light series to come out every Fall. I look forward to how the story ends, but also wish it would go on longer. It has plenty going on to keep your attention. I love following the lives of all of the families in the story. I am glad that Katherine Spencer has kept the series going after the death of Thomas Kinkade. I wish there would be more than one Cape Light book a year.

I've read all of the Cape Light novels and pretty much enjoyed them. This one was O.K., but for some reason it was missing something. Can't explain it. I know that Katherine Spencer has written them all. Maybe it was because she misses Mr. Kincaid.

This is yet another terrific story surrounding the citizens of Cape Light. All the familiar characters, plus a couple of new ones, with their various problems, sorrows, and joys combine for a wonderful, heartfelt read. This is a great series but you don't have to have read all the previous books as each book easily stands alone. One of the more difficult to care about characters, Lillian, who is elderly and quite set in her ways, has a long overdo 'awakening' when something she does causes the love of her life to distance himself from her. Also, there is young Amanda, who has finished grad school and eagerly and hopefully seeks a position in a symphony orchestra. Just as she feels she has found a lasting relationship that could lead to a bright and loving future, the call she so hoped to receive comes. Amanda is asked to audition for a seat in an orchestra away from Cape Light; her decision will determine her future. The love and support of the various characters, helps all involved to see the true meaning of Christmas and what it means to have friends and family that care. I always look forward to each book in this series plus the Angel Island series to be published. I miss the characters at the end of each story and I look forward to their adventures in future books. I wish it the story would go on as each book seems to end too soon!

All I can say is that it is a great book. I own every one of the Cape Light books written by Katherine Spencer with Thomas Kinkade. This one is exceptionally good.

I love this novel series and the writing style of Katherine Spencer. I've collected all her books. And the illustrated covers by Thomas Kincade are a bonus.

I always enjoy reading the Cape Light series. It's fun to follow the stories about the people of Cape Light and see where they are going and how things change in their lives. I like how each book intertwines with the previous one and can continue into the next or even a few further down the line. This is the time to dream of life as it could be, or to learn how others react and learn from the many messages that are left in the stories for the reader to learn from. I also enjoy reading how ones faith can be brought to others without being preachy to others. God is with us through our lives whether we see Him or not. I thoroughly enjoy reading these books and would recommend them to others looking for a good read.
