We live in a building in White Plains, NY that is affected by bedbugs. We've had several of these nasty parasites in our apartment over the past 9 months. 3 months ago my wife discovered this product, and purchased the 3 pound container that you see here. We started sprinkling it around our apartment: we did the perimeter baseboard, pulled up our area rugs and dusted the floorboards, and even put it between our box spring and mattress.

We've found bedbugs dried up around our apartment in the areas that we've treated, so it's successful as a treatment for bedbugs. The fact that it is pet-safe (you can feed it to your pets to de-worm them? crazy) gives us peace of mind about our cat stepping in it and washing her paws later.

If you put this down on your floors, be sure to have good ventilation. We didn't realize how long this powder would hang in the air when we first treated our bedroom: we did that at night, then had to quick get the Ionic Breeze into our room so we wouldn't sneeze all night.

Our exterminator didn't know about diatomaceous earth before he came to treat our apartment. I showed him this product and explained how it worked; he has now incorporated it into his arsenal of bedbug toxins.

I purchased this product to fight my battle with bedbugs and fleas. After trying chemical sprays, foggers, and constant vacuuming and cleaning methods, I decided to try this powder based on an article I read. It worked! Just sprinkle a little bit in pet beds, around the base of furniture and in your baseboards. It truly worked for me at a fraction of the cost of all the other methods.

i bought this product after reading the reviews on how it kills the bed bugs. i thought i need the 3 pound DE, because i wanted to apply it to my entire apartment. But i used one third of it and applied for entire aprtment each corner and all the walls and doors, under the BED, Bed frams, Cup boards, under the carpets, and also applied in my sofas.... it has been three weeks i bought the Product. I started sleeping on my BED again from the Next day after i applied it. No BUG Bites at all. I do inspect every day and they are long gone. i do a see a couple still struggling to come to my BED. but i kill them before even they reach. i cleaned the entire house after 2 weeks of applying it. and re apllied again... since i got the feeling that... this powder last it's power. this 3 pound pack comes for months and months and very reliable, unlike the sprays, which i used first, and just finshes in an hour or so. i hope it's available in walmart... i had to pay for shipping, which i hate to pay.
P.S. - Do not throw away your beds / sofas. this one works.

Update: i did second round of this product after 2 months of first application and kept it for about a month. then i cleaned my entire apartment. now it has been more than a month.... i do not see any sign of bed bug or any kind of bug. very effective.

We bought this specific 3 lb jar of 100% Diatomaceous Earth for bed bugs. It looks and feels a lot like flour. To make sure this actually worked, and that I wasn't just spreading flour all over my home, I caught an adult bed bug in a plastic spice jar (poked an airhole) and added some of this powder and shook it a little to make sure it got the Diatomaceous Earth on it. I checked it periodically and it was still alive 12 hours later. About 24 hrs later it was dead! It's true they are bad climbers because it couldn't climb up the wall of the plastic spice jar.

I used my hands (with white latex gloves, but not needed, just personal preference) to drop generously along the borders (where floor meets walls) of our entire 3 bedroom (1020 sqft) apt (except bath & kitchen), boxsprings, bedframe feet & underside of sofa. I had my hand about a foot or less away from the floor so there was less travel space to avoid dust in the air, doing it this way completely avoided hazardous breathing conditions. I even bought a MSA Safety Works 817663 Multi-Purpose Respirator at the same time (but arrived last) and I'm going to return it unopened because it wasn't needed!

Just make sure after setting this up that you sleep in your regular place (after placing the Diatomaceous Earth under it) because you are the bait... and they have to walk over it in order to die from it.

With my generous method, I have half a jar left. Which I feel is more than enough. I plan on leaving the Diatomaceous Earth on the floor for awhile. The Diatomaceous Earth on the beds will be vacuumed weekly and replaced.

It does say it's safe for pets, and it appears our cats don't mind it...

I knew living in a major tourist area that it was just a matter of time before BB's showed up in my world. The internet is full of comments that you have to use a professional exterminator, it will cost you hundreds of dollars and that it still probably won't work and you will have to get rid of all your things and move! Also, several stories about diatomaceous earth not really working. Either those people are using swimming pool grade D.E. from the hardware store instead of food grade, or they own exterminating companies and don't want you to know how cheap and easy it is to get rid of bedbugs.
When they showed up at my house, I was just about traumatized with all of the dire reports, plus they are just gross. Thankfully, before I bought expensive mattress enclosures or poisonous pesticides or started bagging up all of my belongings, I ordered this product.
You must cover your face and remove animals from the room you are treating as the dust can be very irritating. Once the dust settles, no problem. My box spring and mattress sit directly on the floor. I poked holes in a jar top with a hammer and nail to make a sprinkler and sprinkled (liberally) on floor beneath box springs, then poked the tip of a funnel through the seams of the box spring while it was still up on it's side and poured D.E. inside the box springs, put the box spring back on floor, sprinkled on top of that, then on the sides of the mattress and all around the baseboard on the head and side of my bed. Starting with that night, over 2 weeks with no bites. Last weekend I attended 3 different theaters (where I believe I originally got them) and apparently brought home a couple more. I pulled the bed away from wall and sprinkled more all around the baseboard.
