Comment: This beautiful book appears to have been signed by the author on the title page. Would be considered like new if it were not for a small crease on the bottom of the cover. We found no marks, stains, tears, notes, rips, smudges, writing, underlining or highlighting. Binding is tight, firm and unbroken. Not an old library book.

Editorial Reviews

Review

[Thomas Moran and the Surveying of the American West] significantly enlarges our understanding of how the West was imaged, imagined, and marketed.”—Journal of the West

“By elucidating how his works were part of the larger enterprise of developing and settling the American West, Kinsey contributes a great deal to scholarship on Thomas Moran. . . . Kinsey's book offers the reader valuable insights into the art of Moran, the visual efforts of the Great Surveys, and the complex association of surrounding networks.”—Winterthur Portfolio

A bit of a major disappointment for a book with good B/W illustrations, this is a book about one of the great colorist painters of landscape art. Disheartened.

Format: Paperback
This is one of the most extensive books on Thomas Moran's life. The Smithsonian recently published it (1992). It also has an excellent assortment of pictures of his works. For a complete overview of his work and life, this is the book to have.
