Perfect Introduction to the Man Himself,
By A Customer
This review is from: Thomas More: A Portrait of Courage (Paperback)
This book probes the personality of Thomas More. It is less interested in his many public controversies and achievements (though many are treated) and more interested in providing the reader with a real taste of his personality and spirituality. Accounts of his relationship with his daughter are especially touching. Well written and not overwhelming, read this book and you might feel like you know the man. A Great Introduction to More. I could not put this book down and still find myself re-reading and refering to it.

I have to admit that I know the author, but I can also say that this is one of my favorite books that I have read several times, both enjoying it and benefitting from it as much as the first read.

This review is from: Thomas More: A Portrait of Courage (Paperback)
Wagner's book is informative without being a burden to the reader. What i considered a light, yet, knowledgeable read, Wagner's book includes the most momentous events in More's life. From his humble beginnings, to his rise, and finally to his downfall. The chapters do not seem to go astray from the main focus of his life's most significant moments.
Wagner also intelligently mentions the honors that have been heaped upon Sir Thomas More- honors that endured beyond his death such as the play, A Man For All Seasons, as well as mentioning recent works such as the Yale Edition of the Complete Works of Thomas More ( Something that i did not know existed until Wagner generously mentioned it throughout the course of the last chapter.) The name is self-evident because Wagner's content reveals the personality of Thomas More at its strongest. He constantly depicts More's courage and fortitude through the incidents that he mentions in his book. Highly recommended book about Sir Thomas More.

This review is from: Thomas More: A Portrait of Courage (Paperback)
This is a must read for anyone interested in Thomas More's personal life, as well as his role in history. This book powerfully illustrates More as first a husband and father, and shows how those roles directed his public career. If you are a husband or a father yourself, especially a Catholic, More's example as portrayed in this book will mean a lot to you. I first received this book as a gift, and have since given it on to others.

Get Inspired by St. Thomas More!,

This review is from: Thomas More: A Portrait of Courage (Paperback)
This is an excellent and extremely well-written, factual book about a saint who stood up to King Henry VIII, one of the most powerful kings of his time. St. Thomas More -- by living a heroic, Christian life which eventually prepared him for his imprisonment and beheading -- is a true inspiration and example of sanctity for professionals, fathers and friends alike. You will not be able to put this book down!
