One of the best Thomas books!,
By
This review is from: Thomas and the Shooting Star (Thomas & Friends) (Glitter Picturebook) (Hardcover)
If you have a Thomas fan, you need to get this book. It's larger than most too, and very well illustrated. The night sky is just beautiful, dotted with tons of stars. Thomas can't fall asleep on this particular night so Gordon sees an opportunity to tease Thomas after they see a shooting star. Gordon tells Thomas that if he finds the star, the star will tell him how to fall asleep. So Thomas goes off in search of the star and along the way, runs into Percy who is delivering the mail. Thomas leaves before Percy can tell him that Gordon is tricking him again. He then sees Harold who tells Thomas that Gordon is being sneaky and that he won't be able to catch up with the star. Thomas gets very sleepy on his way back to the shed where Edward is waiting for him. While talking, Thomas finally falls asleep.
Of all our Thomas books, this one is probably the most beautifully illustrated and well written. Ours gets ready many times each night and it tries to get in bed too with our little one! We just love it! It's just a very nice book, one definitely sure to please your Thomas fan. Highly recommend!

The very best Thomas book,

This review is from: Thomas and the Shooting Star (Thomas & Friends) (Glitter Picturebook) (Hardcover)
This book is by far the very best of the Thomas books. Most Thomas books are poorly drawn and produced. This one however, is beautiful, with an engaging story as well. My kids love it. Of all the books we have, this is the one we read the most.

I bought this book for my 2 year old. He loves looking at the colorful pages. The whole page is painted with bright vibrant colors, not like some books with a little picture in the corner. He loves this book

Tommy Stubbs's illustrations are beautiful and friendly-looking; the book is of great quality, with a cloth binding and nice paper. The details (like a visit from an owl) are cool and fun to talk about with my almost-two-year-old. My only problem with this book is that Thomas sneaks out past his bedtime without telling anyone but a sleepy [and irresponsible] Gordon. I'm not saying kids will imitate Thomas, necessarily, but if my son had insomnia I'd rather he read a book than sneaked out of the house! Of course, it wouldn't be easy for a train to read a book, so I don't know what I'm suggesting for the storyline in Thomas and the Shooting Star, but it does bother me just a little that Thomas slips out on his own.
My son really enjoys reading the book, though, and he'll ask us to read it several times in the same day. It's definitely a fun story.

Beautiful--and Very Colorful!,
This review is from: Thomas and the Shooting Star (Thomas & Friends) (Glitter Picturebook) (Hardcover)
Thomas and the Shooting Star caught my son's eye the other day when we were in a "Stuff Mart". He actually chose this book and another Thomas book over a PS2 game!
The front cover features dozens of irridescent, hologram-like stars that sparkle in a rainbow of colors. Thomas and the Shooting Star has 13 colorful pages with vibrant illustrations. Thomas and the Shooting Star tells the story of Thomas, who is having trouble falling asleep. He complains to Gordon, and Thomas spots something bright streaking through the sky. "What was *that*?" he asks Gordon. Gordon replies "a shooting star" and gets the idea to play a joke on Thomas: he'll tell him that a shooting star runs through the sky telling the other stars how to get to sleep. Gordon urges Thomas to try to catch up with the shooting star, so it can tell Thomas how to fall asleep! Thomas encounters a few of his friends on his nighttime excursion, and lo and behold--chasing the star *does* make him sleepy! This delightful hardcover book is a favorite of my son's, and the best Thomas book there is, in my opinion. (My guess is that Britt Allcroft didn't write it...although her production company is listed as the creator). Highly recommended!

I care for an almost 2.5 year old and she absolutely adores this book! The illustrations are great...storyline a more interesting than the typical dry Thomas books and it is a nice size.

Two boys' review: Thomas is sooo tired, a fun bedtime story,

This review is from: Thomas and the Shooting Star (Thomas & Friends) (Glitter Picturebook) (Hardcover)
On fitful nights, when my boys are having trouble getting to sleep, I read them this story. Thomas can't fall asleep and awakens another train, who sends him off in search of shooting star just to get some quiet. Thomas' search results in meeting several other friends but no shooting star. Finally, exhausted, Thomas returns to the train shed and falls asleep.
The message is subtle enough to share without belaboring the point. The illustrations are very nice and I like both the pacing and the length of the story (as one other reviewer said, the book is the perfect length for a bedtime story). We own a number of Thomas books (check my other reviews). This is one of the better stories we've come across.

This is well illustrated and nicely written. It about a 10 minute read. It is great for bedtime. My boys loved it. The story is interesting and easy to understand. The hardcover art is also well done and is indicative of the overall quality of illustration.

I purchased this book for my two year old granddaughter who has fallen 'in love' with the Thomas trains. She likes the brightness of the pages and the story as grandma reads it. I would recommend it to add to one's library for children's books.
