Thomas' Snowsuit,
By Mary Findling (Grove City, MN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Thomas' Snowsuit (Classic Munsch) (Library Binding)
As a Minnesota preschool teacher, I can't tell you how realistic this book is! (in an exagerated way, of course). This book has become a classroom favorite every winter when snowsuits are a way of life. Robert Munsch really knows children and the way they think. Thomas, his teacher, and even the principal have an excitable time getting Thomas into his brown snowsuit to play outdoors. A word of warning: underwear causes fits of hysterical laughter to any 3 to 5 year old!

Just as funny for adults as kids,
This review is from: Thomas' Snowsuit (Classic Munsch) (Paperback)
I read this book out loud at our gymnastics training center, and the kids thought it was amusing but the coaches were on the floor! The rollicking humor of Munsch's books makes them ideal read-alouds for parents bored with the "See Spot Run" style. I can also recommend "Moira's Birthday" and "The Paper Bag Princess" but "Thomas' Snowsuit" is the funniest of the bunch.

I first heard this story in my education class while we were learning how to do shared reading in the classroom. Being read to in the child's perspective was interesting enough, but to have this book read was a blast. The pictures are humorous and the story makes children and adults laugh. Everyone knows that parents make you do something you can't stand. We have all seen "The Christmas Story" with the red-rider bb gun and the infamous overly wrapped for winter younger brother. This book reminds me of that hilarious scene. Once the teacher and the principal get in the act it gets all crazy. In the end, just like you would expect a child to do, he jumps right into his snowsuit when it lets him do something he wants to do, play. This is a sweet story, a good read for children.

A Family Favorite,
By A Customer
This review is from: Thomas' Snowsuit (Classic Munsch) (Paperback)
I'm buying a copy for each of my kids to save for them when they're grown. This book has provided wonderful hours of reading and precious fits of laughter. It's also been an avenue to open conversations about acceptable behavior. I disagree with the review that it teaches children disrespectful behavior, actually I teach my children acceptable behavior and to discern when they are out of line. Thomas is definitely a way for them to bring that lesson home, in a hilarious way! Everyone needs to laugh and I love that this book appeals to the very young (my two year old loves to say no! with Thomas)and to the very old (my grandma read it to the kids the other night and cackled along with them!). Lighten up and enjoy life! That's the message of Munsch!

Thomas' Snowsuit,
This review is from: Thomas' Snowsuit (Classic Munsch) (Library Binding)
This is a GREAT book for reading to kids, with kids, and by kids! The hilarious storyline and repetitive nature keep even the most reluctant reader interested. It's a "laugh till your belly hurts" book!

Hilarious, as always!,

Munsch writes some really funny books. In this one, Thomas won't put on his snowsuit. It's UGLY, and he has no qualms about saying so whenever the grown-ups try to make him wear it. In the ensuing fights, his teacher ends up in his snowsuit, his principal and teacher end up swapping clothes by accident, everybody ends up in their underwear, and Thomas puts on his snowsuit when he decides it's important to go out in the snow.
Bunch of silly nonsense, no moral whatsoever. That's refreshing, isn't it? A word to the wise: IF you are going to purchase the "Annikins" edition of this book, take a moment to read the product description. It states very clearly in the description that the Annikins books are sized at 3.5 x 3.5 inches and are miniature books for miniature hands. After the first three comments it's no longer funny to read people whining that "they didn't KNOW the book was so small!" when, in fact, it's there in bold print, directly under the editorial review.

WAY TO SMALL TO READ,

I ordered this book for my child's classroom not having any idea it is 3.5" by 3.5" small. It does not state in the description how small it is. I recommend that you do not buy it, it is to small for your child to read.

Robert Munsch Book,

I was really disappointed in the book itself. It was tiny (5x5 at best!) I bet I look at the "fine print" next time to ensure the book is of somewhat normal size...

Disappointing - book size TOO SMALL,

This review is from: Thomas' Snowsuit (Annikins) (Paperback)
This book is an EXCELLENT book. However, nowhere in the description does it mention that this specific copy is only 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 inches. I bought this book to read to my students, but because of the size, I was not able to use it either as a readaloud or on my classroom bookshelf. The story itself, as can be expected in many Munsch books, was hilariously funny. I only wish that I was able to use the book.

I have worked in the children's department of my public library for over a year and this is one of the most popular books. I can't decide who enjoys it more- the children or the parents. The book is just good plain fun with something everyone knows about, trying to get a small boy into a yucky, confining snowsuit. Tha story gets funnier with each succeseive person the snowsuit ends up on. I love this book and recommend it to many patrons. Munsch is one of the funniest authors I've ever had the pleasure to read
