It was an impulse buy and I should have checked amazons review first.

The toy stopped working the second time my son went to use it. I had put new brand name batteries in the train. When I took the train to see what had happened I turned it over and noticed that battery acid was coming out of the battery compartment. Thank goodness none had gotten on his skin and that I had noticed it. Completely unsafe. It could have caused skin burns or what if he had ingested the acid! My next task is to figure out how to report this so that kids remain safe.

This toy is a big waste of money. I really count on Amazon reviews and usually do my homework, but this was an impulse purchase at Target. It's bad enough that after years of reading reviews, I'm actually taking the time to write my first one about this toy. I was not shocked (but pleased to see I agree with my Amazonies) that the average rating is one star. We haven't had any leaks, but the bubbles hardly every blow. When they do work, they are small and drop right to the ground. It takes batteries, but you still have to pump it, so why not just make it a manual toy? So stupid. Cute, but stupid. Oh, and I just saw it is almost $30 on Amazon? I think I paid $12 at Target - it's not worth $5!

One of the grandparents got this toy for my son's third birthday. We were able to put it together and play at the party, but the bubbles leaked into the battery compartment (leaked resistant, ha). I thought the batteries had just died, so I opened it up to changed the batteries and a mixture of bubbles, battery acid, and rust (in just a few hours!) oozed out. Needless to say, it no longer works after only one use. My son keeps asking if he can play with the bubble blower, but even if it did work, this thing is too unsafe to have around little ones - or anyone for that matter. I don't know how many injuries will have to be reported before this toy is recalled, but don't let your kid be one of them!

Bought this for the little boy I nanny. He LOVED it, except when it stopped working! The battery compartment needs to be kept loose in order to blow the bubbles, by leaving it loose, bubble solution leaks into the battery compartment and makes the whole thing stop! It then takes FOREVER to clean out the solution and let dry. Needs a design update. Plus where you pour the solution is in a stupid place.

All the above reviews are accurate. I have to also mention the safety issue. If you don't take the batteries out within 24 hours, the bubble mixture corrodes the batteries and you are left with a slimy mixture of bubble solution and battery acid leaking out of the battery compartment onto your little ones hands!! THIS ITEM SHOULD BE RECALLED!

I had to return this toy because it leaked like a sieve, and also because sometimes the bubbles wouldn't come out at all. I bought it for my train-obsessed toddler, but he couldn't use it by himself, because as soon as you lean it to the side even a little bit, it stops working and the solution comes pouring out. Also, every other time the bubbles wouldn't come out when he pulled the trigger because the spout was jammed with extra solution, so I had to take it away from my screaming and crying child and clean it by blowing at it. This toy caused more tears than joy.

I bought this Bubble Blowing Thomas for my nephew and quickly found out how leaky it was (luckily we were already outside). Didn't even fill it completely with the provided bubble solution, and within 30 seconds of use bubble solution was leaking all over his arms and jacket. It's rare if you can get it to produce a bubble, despite how noisy it is, and the solution pours out of it when you try. Presumably the leaking and lack of bubbles are related, and hopefully mine was just defective, but for now it just serves as a Thomas with a handle... sadly no bubbles!

Our three year old got this as a gift. It didn't work right out of the box -- lots of tears. I was surprised to see after two years of scathing reviews and documentation of an unsafe product that Amazon continues to offer it for purchase. Shame on you Amazon! Pull the product. We're talking about toddlers here!
