5.0 out of 5 stars Great book of X-stitch designs
Very happy with this book. I have a grandson who is over the moon about Thomas the Train. Looking forward to stitching a few toddler bibs and t-shirts for him.

This review is from: Thomas the Tank Engine: Cross Stitch: 20 Designs Based on the Railway Series (Hardcover)
When looking for Thomas cross-stitch designs for my son, I found this book here, but I wasn't impressed with the samples shown on the cover. They look like something I would design myself. I ended up buying More Storybook Favourites in Cross-stitch by Gillian Souter and am very pleased with it. It only has 2 Thomas and friends designs: one with Thomas pulling Annie and Clarabel, and another with James, Edward, Percy, Thomas, Henry, and Sir Topham Hatt. In the second design, all of the characters are separate so you can mix and match to customize.

I then saw this book at the bookstore today and was glad that I hadn't gotten it. There are a lot of different designs, but they are all flat and unimpressive like those seen on the cover. The designs in More Storybook Favourites in Cross-stitch are more 3 dimensional and realistic looking.

If you're looking for quality over quantity, I suggest Souter's book or there are some old issues of magazines like The Cross-Stitcher and TV Stitcher that have Thomas designs in them.
