5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun in pulling into the station
This movie was really great and full of suprises like when Percy gets spooked by a "dragon" and when Sir Toppan's hats turn in to a jelly covered scarf for Percy. HA HA!This is a must see Thomas movie and should not be missed!

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware of "not nice" words!
My three year old loves this video, as the Chinese Dragon is one of his favorite trains to play with. However, they do use the words "Shut up!" a time or two, which I could live without. Obviously, this isn't a phrase I want my child using, so we may hide this video away until he's older.

5.0 out of 5 stars BoCo rocks, October 13, 2003

This review is from: Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends - Thomas, Percy & The Dragon (with Toy) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a really good tape. The dragon though scary was pretty funny. Donald & Douglas are 2 of my favorite characters. BoCo is also one of them. In the later tapes Donald & Douglas aren't in it as much as Bill & Ben but they are better. BoCo is really deprived of a good episode. But it was great to see Edward do something good for a change. Percy really isn't in it much either and he's one of the best characters. Percy's Ghostly Trick is a must buy if you like this one

5.0 out of 5 stars Thomas' 8th adventure, November 14, 2004
By
Cumulonimbus Harpe "samsmylife" (Fresno, California, United States) - See all my reviews
Another good one, probably the last good one until THOMAS & THE SPECIAL LETTER. Since Bill & Ben are introduced in this one, they show them quite frequently in the following videos, but they don't show Boco enough. We all know he has the hardest job on the Island of Sodor, keeping the twins in order and making sure they stay out of trouble. Some more twins are introduced on this video also, Donald & Douglas. Sir Topham Hatt only ment to find one of them and plans to send one away. Here are the story stops:

THOMAS, PERCY & THE DRAGON 5/5:
Percy still teases Thomas about the time he thought he was a ghost and to Thomas, this is getting very old indeed. One night Percy is abandoned at an old siding due to a broken signal box. Percy is scared and wishes he could go home as he sees everyone else puffing happily to the shed. Meanwhile, Thomas is sent to the harbor to pick up a rather mysterious load. On the way back, Thomas will pass Percy's siding and boy is Percy in for a surprise.

DONALD & DOUGLAS 5/5:
Donald & Douglas are Scottish twin engines, but Sir Topham Hatt had only wanted one of them and plans to send the other one away. But who? First Donald has an accident with a signal box and Sir Topham Hatt gets mad at him, he was planning to keep Donald and send Douglas away. Next, Douglas helps James with some troublesome trucks but accidently works too hard and breaks the brakevan. Now Sir Topham Hatt doesn't know who to keep or who to send away.

THE DEPUTATION 5/5:
All the engines are very sad that Sir Topham Hatt wants to send one of the scottish twins away. Percy decides to ask Edward for some advice and Edward says that the engines need a deputation, where one engine tells Sir Topham Hatt about their problem. So the engines make Percy their deputation. He bravely steps up to the challenge but will he be brave enough to tell Sir Topham Hatt about Donald & Douglas.

A SCARF FOR PERCY 6/5:
Percy has always wanted a scarf for his funnel and all the other engines think he is crazy, but Percy still has his dreams. One day, when Sir Topham Hatt is taking visitors around the island, Percy decides to sneak up on the coaches but he is so quiet that the baggage claim doesn't here him either. After Percy's silly accident, he will finally have a scarf, but by mistake.

THE DISEASEL 2.5/5:
One day, Bill & Ben's cars mysteriously dissapear. The drivers find a patch of oil where their cars were and find out that a diesel stole their cars. Their drivers take off their names and numbers so the diesel won't think there are two of them. So Bill & Ben set off to find the diesel and get their cars back.

TIME FOR TROUBLE 4/5:
Sir Topham Hatt gives Gordon a rest and has James take the Express. Meanwhile, Toby is on his way to the works to be repaired. He stops at a signal for a drink of water but the signalman says that they must leave immediately to clear the line for James and the Express. But Toby tank doesn't hold much water and he ends up stranded on the mainline. Now James will have to push Toby and pull his train at the same time.

EDWARD'S EXPLOIT 5/5:
Edward has to take a passenger train back to the station one night. The train is very heavy and hard for Edward to pull. When he is driving down the line, his coupling rods break and all the passengers have to help fix them. Tired but triumphent, Edward starts again, will he make it to the station?

Thomas, Percy & The Dragon is a great Thomas video, buy it today :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Thomas and Friends Collection #8, December 27, 2003
A Kid's Review
Thomas, Percy, and the Dragon is not an original Awdry story, but a re-mastered version of a story Britt Allcroft saw in an old "Thomas" magazine and decided to use. (Thanks to TV Tome for the info on that). The story stops are as follows:

Thomas, Percy, and the Dragon- Percy teases Thomas of being scared of Percy's Ghost Trick (See Percy's Ghostly Trick). Sor Topham Hatt tells Thomas to go to the harbor and pick up a load there. Percy is on a siding after day's work when the sinalman informs Percy snd his driver that the switches are jammed, meaning Percy must spend the night on the siding alone! Back at the harbor, Thomas is surprised by his load: a dragon! Well, a paper one for a carnival. He drives by Percy's siding and gives Percy a scare! Next Morning, Percy tells others story snd they ridicule him. Percy sees Thomas and tells truth, and all is well.
Donald and Douglas- Two twins from Scotland, Donald and Douglas, have arrived to the railway, but only one was meant to come. A brake van gives trouble to Douglas, and Donald scolds the van. But when Donald has an accident, it causes confusion. James has to take Donald's train as result, and the brake van and cars give James an even harder time. Exhausted, James recruits Douglas' help up the hill. The van brakes, the two did splendid, and Sir Topham Hatt is reconsidering which twin to send home.
The Deputation- The twins help push away snow, and rescue Henry from it, too. The twins are all the nervous about the decision of going home. Percy asks Edward to help. Edward suggests a deputation, which the engines mix up the name. Percy is chosen to represnt the deputation to Sir Topham Hatt, and a nervous Percy tells him the request. Sir Tophamm announces that both twins will stay.
Time for Trouble- Gordon is busy on Sodor because lots of people are visiting the island. Sir Topham gives Gordon a rest and replaces him with James, to pull the express. James boasts to Toby, who Sir Topham Hatt sends to the works. Toby sets out, and needs water to keep going. The new stationmaster told Toby to clear the line for James, thus stranded. James is furious when he hears about pushing Toby. He pushes him to the station, and peple give him mixed feelings.
A Scarf for Percy- Thomas and Percy are cold in the snow watinf for the firelighter. They decide to think of warm thungs. Percy thinks of nothing but scarfs. Sir Topham was to go to a special train to greet the visitors. Percy is still complaining, now to Henry about scarfs, seeing everyone with one. The baggage is being pulled by cart across tracks, and Percy sneaks up and accidently bursts the baggage, and jam spilled everywhere. Sir Topham's trousers fell around his funnel: Percy's "scarf." The engines tease him, but Percy knows much better now.
The Diseasal- Bill and Ben are twins carrying stone cars and such. One day, they shunt cars, and come back later to find them missing. They find a patch of oil, which their drivers interpret to be a diesel's. They take off their names and numbers, and plan a trick on the diesel. They trick the diesel by going bsck snd forth, and finally the diesel realizes there are two engines. Edward comes to BoCo, the diesel's rescue and Boco apoligzes for a misunderstanding with the cars and the twins scamper off.
Edward's Exploit- Edward works hard to start a train of vistors, whuch he finally takes to Bill and Ben. The twins have their photos taken and such, and they take the visitors home to Edward. The weather became rainy and slippery, and something cracked. They determined it to be Edward's crankpin. They loosen the couplings, and Edward picks them up. He pulls to the station snd people cheer.

This is a wonderful classic for children and adults alike! Hop on board for heartwarming, fun stories!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad video, November 11, 2004
A Kid's Review
This video is quite a good one. The three Series 3 episodes aren't quite as good as the four Series 2 episodes, but they're still pretty good. The best episode is easily "The Deputation," which has a strong storyline and a heart-warming ending. This tape also contains more of George Carlin's excellent narration. The way he portrays certain characters (Gordon and Boco in particular) can't be beaten. Unfortunately, there is one thing I dislike about Carlin's narration...the way he voices Donald and Douglas. People are always saying how Carlin did a brilliant Scottish accent, but I'm afraid he doesn't. I've met plenty of Scottish people, and none of them sounded remotely like Carlin's Donald and Douglas voices. I've also spoken to a genuine Scotsman about Carlin's Scottish accents, and he agrees that they're inaccurate. So in my opinion, Carlin's Donald and Douglas voices are massively overrated. But aside from that, his narration is pretty good.

Overall, a good video, and worth having in your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spite Dougie would'ya? TAKE THAT!, December 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ah, Thomas the tank Engine, one of my favorite childhood shows.(though I suppose adults would still consider me a child since I'm only 14 :P)
This VHS has some pretty awesome stories.
If I recall(I'm to lazy to get the VHS)
the stories are
Thomas Percy and the Dragon 4/5 the moral is good, but the story isn't really good enough to be the title of the actual tape.
Donald and Douglas(AKA Breakvan in the UK) 5/5 one of my FAVORITES, it has Donald and Douglas' Debut in the show, and the spiteful breakvan.
The Desperation?!?!?!?(Deputation)5/5 I thought it was funny how all of the engines except Edward couldn't pronounce Deputation, and I liked alot of the other dialogue, also look at Gordon's eyes at the end, It looks like he's gone spastic on us.
A Scarf For Percy 5/5: I thought it was pretty funny, and I thought the accident was amusing.
Diseasel: Ah yes the Debut of Boco the ever so awesome diesel. I thought this was funny how they thought he was so evil. Also the music when Bill(or was it Ben? :-/) confronts him(Boco) was EPIC.
Edwards Exploit 3/5: Again fair moral, but the dialogue could've been a bit better.

Overall GREAT VHS tape, though like alot of other Thomas Tapes there are some words that parents might want to avoid(though my sister always said those kind of things to me :P)like stupid and such, though for someone my age(again 14) that's nothing compare to most shows aimed for my age group.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bill, Ben,Donald and Douglas are the best on this video, March 18, 2007
A Kid's Review
My favorite stories on this video are "Thomas, Percy and the Dragon" because I think this story is very funny and also the Dragon looks brilliant. I like "Donald and Douglas and the Deputation" because Donald and Douglas are two of my favorite characters and they look good in black. "A Scarf for Percy" is very funny especially when Percy gets jelly all over his face and a pair of trousers on his funnel. And last "The Diseasel" beacuse Bill and Ben are very funny in all the stories that they are. They are especially in this one where they meet BoCo and make him surprised to see them. BoCo is also my favorite because he is the only good diesel.
