I use this in my refrigerator, and if I put the two probes in the same area, their readings are virtually identical! I was definitely not expecting this. I will be calibrating my other thermometers to this one.

This item arrived promptly, seems well built, and does everything the description says. But now that I look again, even though the unit has a clock, and settable high and low temperature alarms, and an alarm memory, it doesn't record the length of time that the temperature was out of range. If you are not around when the alarm is triggered, when you return you will know something was wrong, but not for how long. Nothing was misleading because the description never said it would do that, and I should have noticed. While shopping I had also looked at the "Taylor Digital Recording Thermometer with Dual Glycol-Tolerant Probes", which does record durations, and I assumed that would be a desirable feature in any similar fridge/freezer thermometer, and I didn't read this one's description carefully enough.

So I think I'll return this in favor of the Taylor, which is also priced slightly lower. The Taylor comes with "glycol-tolerant" probes but they are not already in glycol-filled bottles, as they are with this product, but it's not hard to get some 10ml or 20ml "Sealed Sterile Serum Vials" also right here on Amazon, pierce the rubber seals, fill them with propylene glycol or RV potable-water antifreeze, and poke the probes in.

Despite the fact that that two sensors are very nearly side by side in my home chest freezer, they register temperatures that are usually about 4-5* apart. This level of accuracy is adequate for my needs, but it may not be sufficiently accurate for those with more demanding requirements.
