4.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!
over all the track set is very durable but when it comes to the high riser if your tot is anything like mine youd be better off super gluing these peices to the track set itself... i do agree with other reviews about the risers but if your just looking to expand and give more track room to your tots trackset this is a great expansion set to go with.... we have a huge set...

3.0 out of 5 stars What is up w/the risers!
There is nothing good about the risers (rail girders) that come in this pack. The risers are NOT stack-able with other risers in this pack. Unbelievable. All my older blue track risers are stackable?? These risers are not tall enough to elevate one track over another track (were they thinking that Thomas would only need to cross small streams?) The risers do not lock,...

There is nothing good about the risers (rail girders) that come in this pack. The risers are NOT stack-able with other risers in this pack. Unbelievable. All my older blue track risers are stackable?? These risers are not tall enough to elevate one track over another track (were they thinking that Thomas would only need to cross small streams?) The risers do not lock, snap, or secure themselves in any way into the track nor are they compatible with the older blue track (would have been a nice touch). These light brown tracks provide "slightly" less wobble (due to having two edge track connectors instead of one center connector) than the older blue (Tomy) tracks, but not enough to warrant switching over. Many of the old blue tracks are reversible, where-as none of the brown tracks are designed that way. It would have been nice if the black switch track levers "clicked" into place, but since they don't, they tend to mindlessly float between tracks like the old blue ones did. The tracks do have some added anti-slip texturing that is not present on the old blue tracks.

3.0 out of 5 stars Supports don't stay under the track, December 15, 2010

I knew when I got this that the supports wouldn't raise the track high enough for another train to pass underneath. What I didn't anticipate is that the supports don't stick to the intended piece of track it is supposed to support. This results in plastic track just hanging in midair, and when you are a little rough with it it will fall apart or occasionally trains will get stuck going up because the two joined tracks do not stay flush because the support fell out underneath.

That said, other reviews are right that this is a lot of track for the money. I was hoping to possibly put it on a train table but there is just too much track it's way more fun to make a big mess on the floor that you can later break your ankle on! :) Overall it is what I expected but I thought the supports would hold the track better. The Trackmaster sets that come with "tree-like" supports seem better. I have not had a problem with those but you have to buy individual sets to get those.

I am most happy with the dividers tracks you see because it gives you endless oppertunties to divide and allow multiple trains to go which ever way you choose to allow with the switchers on the dividers
have found also that it allows more curviness to the track with other peices combined

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for a 3 year old!, April 9, 2011

I bought this expansion set thinking it went with the Fisher Price Thomas Take 'N Play. It doesn't, being much too large for that set. But I was pleasantly surprised that my 3 year old absolutely LOVES this track, even though he doesn't have any trains that fit on it! He can put the track together himself and makes layouts all over his room. My son uses his matchbox cars and Take N Play trains on this for hours of fun, even though the wheels don't actually fit across the track grooves. (He puts the wheels in only one rut of the track)

This track really makes a large layout, and there is a map for putting it all together. I haven't had problems with the risers... I just follow the layout map and they work fine. They are not stackable and the track is not reversible, but that in no way makes the set any less fun!

This set is durable... my 3 year old hasn't managed to bend or break a one! It's a large, complete track set, not just an expansion. It would be great for the grandparent's house with just the addition of a train!

Highly recommended!

Bought this for my grandson's second birthday. Set is great and lots of tracks, but my grandson just not quite ready for it yet. So will have to wait to see how he enjoys trains and tracks (he's into balls now, and that will never change!). But if you are looking for a value for adding track to your set, this is a good deal. i guess just make sure you're getting the type track you need for your trains?? (older trains need an older track, if i read info right when i was doing my 'research' -- no idea if they are or aren't compatible)

I bought this expansion pack in hopes of helping make previously bought trackmaster sets more than just small sets. The set includes enough pieces to make a fairly large set. I found that it really works well when combining different sets together. This package comes with long and short straight tracks which fit together easily. They also have curved pieces which also work well with the other pieces. They have some curved pieces that have lifts on them which make connecting them to other pieces slightly difficult but still works well. The curved switch pieces are a lot of fun and also work well with the set. All in all it's a great deal for this expansion pack and it really does a great job at creating enough tracks to make large and enjoyable sets.

Definitely should include a few more curves! We were able to expand a set but not make it that much different. I feel this track pack should contain a few more curves in order to be able to build a neater track.

I like the old blue trackmaster tacks better, but they don't make them any more so these work. They are harder to put together, but you can make bridges a lot easter. Overall, they do their job.

My three and a half year old son loves trains. Just plain and simple loves anything train related, he has a number of the Thomas trackmaster sets and one smaller track expansion set. We picked this up for about $9.00 here on Amazon right after Christmas, and it really has taken his train playing to a more fun level for him. We've been able to hook all the playsets together, and spread them out all over the room so the trains have a good distance to travel between the steam works, the quarry, the shaky bridge, the windmill and all the other destinations in our little island of Sodor.

I would recommend this for any kid that has multiple Thomas sets, it really makes it more enjoyable for everyone when you can build more intricate rail lines with sidings, switch track and over passes.
