I'm excited to get this Bible! I looked at the Thompson Chain Reference Bibles NKJV, and the reviews on one Bible in particular alarmed me, because of the reviews about poor printing and binding--a Bible that I eventually noticed in the ad, was published by Nelson. I was fearful that Kirkbride was making poor Bibles. I just got this one, good packing and very quick shipment in fact, and I'm thrilled. I've used one like this for a decade, and this one is the same, except it cost less. It is a Kirkbride Bible (not a Nelson--like the other one that had all the poor reviews), it has 2407 pages, not counting 13 maps. It was printed in the USA. It seems to have the same grade of leather binding and as my older burgandy Bible--though not the gold line on the inside edge of the cover. It is updated and expanded by John Stephen Jauchen, and has G. Frederick Owen's archaeological supplement revised by Dennis W. Cheek (assisted by David Livingston and Edwin M Yamauchi). This Archaeological suppliment is probably the best in any study Bible except the rather recent Archaelolgical Study Bible and is improved since my Thompson of the 1960's. The inside of the cover, except for the gold line, seems the same. It was printed in December of 2008, has Smyth sewn binding and is red lettered. I'm overjoyed that my fear was unfounded and the Kirkbride Company is still making GREAT BIBLES, not only in quality of organization and notes, but also in the paper, binding and sewing. I don't believe there is a better bound Bible made, though my new ESV Study Bible is also Smyth sewn. I don't have any complaints about Nelson bibles, though when I read all the complaints about a Thompson that was put out by Nelson I was concerned about the quality of the Kirkbride. It looks to me like you'll not be writing a complaint about this one.

I have had a few different Bibles over the years, but have always came back to the King James version, not matter how challenging I found it to read and comprehend. Eventually I moved on to a more "modern" version. I was very disppointed to learn and discover it didn't contain many verses. This is completely unacceptable to me. So I began asking around. Thompson Chain Refence Bible kept coming up. After careful research and much prayer, (yes prayer. This is an important decision to/for me. It's not like picking out what cereal I want to eat in the morning. It's so very much more important than that.) I chose to take chance and buy it online. Anyway, I purchased this Bible and was nervous. I usually like to peruse them prior to purchasing. I have to say, this is the best purchase I have made in a very long time. It is excellent for learning, studying, and researching. I wholly recommend it.

I really enjoy my copy of the NKJV of the Thompson Chain Reference Bible. It is full of interesting information on many portions of scripture. I recommend it to anyone who wishes to go beyond memorizing Bible verses.

Get the bible produced by Kirkbride publishers. Overall quality is excellent. I am 70 and I can read the text well I don't know the font size but it works well for me. Paper is white and shows very little of the text on the following page. Printing is very consistent. I have the red letter edition. This one is indexed
I like my bibles indexed because I can find books, and chapters and verses fast. I don't like the stick on tabs. The pages get torn and ruined if those aids are applied. There is only one ribbon. Would like two or better three. I can live with one. I understand there were quality and binding issues with some publishers of the Thompson chain bible. I picked the one by Kirkbride for that reason.
If you want a Thompson chain reference you won't find better quality for the money.
