I was not shopping for a new Bible, but I came across the Thompson Chain-Reference Study Bible at a local Christian book store and decided to take a look. I was surprised by the beautiful cover. Looking at the box, this is called "Ivory Deluxe Kirvella - Thumb Indexed" which is hard to find here on Amazon...so follow this direct link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0887075428. The cover feels like lamb skin, unbelievably soft and pliable. The paper is very high quality and heavy, so the Bible stays open easily without crinkling the binding at all. The price was high, [...], but I found the chain reference system to be extremely interesting, so I went ahead an bought it. (In contrast, it's < [...] here on Amazon!). I'm not sure about some of the versions mentioned by other reviewers, but this Kirvella binding is gorgeous and of extremely high quality.
