I own a Thompson in the KJV/NKJV, but my favorite translation is the NASB. Problem being is in that particular translation your choices are limited. The best thing about a Thompson is it uses scripture to back up scripture, not a person or a group of people's interpretation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Thompson NASB Study Bible
This is my second Thompson chain study Bible. My other one is a NKJV. I thought they would be essentially the same, but they are not. The NKJV has more subheadings and all of the OT references are footnoted, whereas the NASB does not. Also, I was not aware that the NASB version I purchased was not the 1995 update. Maybe that is why the price was so good. Finally,...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Bible, July 17, 2005
I own a Thompson in the KJV/NKJV, but my favorite translation is the NASB. Problem being is in that particular translation your choices are limited. The best thing about a Thompson is it uses scripture to back up scripture, not a person or a group of people's interpretation.

I have 2 study Bibles that I found myself using very frequently, The MacArthur study Bible being the one most used. I really like MacArthur and his writings. I hold his opinion in high regard. But I found myself looking more for the answer to a passage in his comments instead of God's word. Obviously all authors, no matter how good, have the same sinful nature as you or I. So I decided to get this Bible in my translation of choice and let it's scripture helps guide me, instead of another person.

Construction seems reasonably good, very little bleed through using Zebra hi-lighters in the yellow shade. I'm happy with the product. Looking for an Nasb study Bible with comments, choose the Ryrie. You want scripture to answer the question, choose the Thompson

Finally, although the box it came in clearly said NASB Study Bible, the study Bible notation appears nowhere in the Bible itself. Not sure I would buy it if I had to do it all over again.

4.0 out of 5 stars My NAS Thompson Chain Bible, March 20, 2009
By
Primarily, I bought the Thompson Chain Bible because it's still using the NAS original translations as my Open Bible from 1976.

It's a very good bible. The pages are thin, and sometimes hard for my old fingers to leaf through, but that may become easier as I use it more. Dry markers don't bleed through. I enjoy the numerical references in the margin that allows the reader to quickly find all scriptures relating to the subject. I can see the value of this bible to a minister or teacher building a sermon or lesson. I wish I'd bought a true leather cover instead of the "bonded" leather.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good study Bible, May 13, 2010

I chose this Bible because of the many cross references, which help me to understand the meaning behind difficult passages; there are several other bits of information that are helpful, too. I like the durability of the leather cover and how to care for it. Thanks for a good product at a reasonable price.
