This Topical chain reference bible is the BEST investment I ever made in my walk with God. I bought mine back in 1994 when I became a Christian and I am buying two more today for a friend and my son who is coming to the age where he will be needing more "meat" this Bible is not only the inspired word of God but it contains the tools we need in order to look up subjects and find scriptures. quick and easy right on hand when you need them. It is a top rate reference bible - if you have this - you really could make it the rest of your christian walk with no other reference. Basically it's not ment to give you someone elses point of view, but only to help you FIND the scriptures you need in your daily life. If you're dealing with parenting issues - you look up the subject of parenting or family in the reference part and it will give you the SCRIPTURES that pertain to this subject. You then can read Gods word about this subject - not someones oppinion. Or if you have a friend who would like to know more about baptism - you could look up baptism in the refernce and it will give you SCRIPTURES about this subject that you can look up. IT's GREAT!

I can't speak highly enough about The Thompson Chain Reference Bible - As I stated above - it was and IS the best investment I have ever made in my christian life. It has made studying the Bible not only possible - but EASY. I am so greatful for it.

The Thompson Chain NIV bible is the very best non-denominational bible as there is no denominational bias/commentary within the text. Yet, this bible permits Scripture to answer Scripture via the chain system and concordance, a very powerful and edifying tool! The quality of the book is very good and should holdup for years of study!

This version of the Bible was recommended by my Pastor. This is a new version for me but like it very much and will enjoy using it as I teach my class. Lots of good information available inside to help you cross reference to other scriptures that are applicable.

Great price on this bible. Lower than I've seen anywhere so I ordered it right away. Have not gotten to use alot yet but the references by subject make it very easy to locate scripture.

Was looking for a family bible...wanted something in plain black leather but when it arrived it had "Thompson Reference Bible" written in large text down the spine, so I returned it.

The format of this NIV Bible, the double columns, concordance, and other reference matterial make the Bible a very useful study tool. I like the indexed books, the reference words along the sides of the columns, etc. The Bible lays flat where ever it is opened. I would have rated the Bible much higher except the box the Bible came in as well as the Bible itself smelled very musty. I have left the Bible lay open at various points for about a month now and the smell is gradually dissipating. The odor makes using the Bible not as pleasant an experience as it could be. The only criticism I have of the Bible itself is that the pages are very thin and you cannot use a highlighter or pen or pencil to make notes in the margins as all markings go through to the opposite side of the page. All things considered, if I had to do it over again, I would not purchase the Bible. I also had a problem with another Bible (OT)reference book purchased from Amazon. The books were not packed very well and some of the pages of the OT book were badly bent. I will think twice before purchasing any other large Bible reference books from Amazon.

The Thompson Chain Reference Bibles are great sources of topical, archeological, spiritual studies from their outlines and resources that are contained within the pages. It is a valuable treasure of information for the serious student of the Bible.

If you are a serious Bible reader, you cannot get any better than a Thompson Chain Reference Bible. I have a handy size KJV one that I have had for 20 years, which is still in good condition. I had this need to buy another Bible, but wanted one in todays language, with a bigger type and this one hit the spot. I can't explain taking a new Thompson Chain Reference out of it's box and plastic bag, and smelling the leather. Then checking it out since it's all updated and I was really happy the words of Christ are in red even without advertising it. It just comes with Bible. As I prepared my new Bible for use by doing this exercise that I learned in grammar school to do to new books that you don't break the binding, I was thrilled with the quality and at such a great price.

What more need I say...It's a Thompson, I love it. Thank you Amazon for the amazing price... Oh, Future Beach Bunny had to do with another purchase of a sun shelter for the beach, because I can't stay in the sun...that's another review.

The book is packed with great information but I am disappointed in the thin pages and small print. I don't believe that this bible is leather bound; there is no musty or leather smell at all to it. The Bible was rec'd wrapped in plastic and if this were leather it should have some type of leather smell. I feel this bible was too much money for a bible that doesn't appear to be leather bound and pages so thin. This bible is packed with wonderful information and to keep it this size I understand the thin pages but I will have to be very careful with this bible to make it last. The bible has a huge archaeological supplement and I know I will enjoy using it.

Most modern alternatives to God's Word, follows the Septuagint (LXX), Samaritan Pentateuch, Alexandrian Text-Type. It is does not follow the most reliable manuscripts, used by the King James Version (KJV)....i.e. the Masoretic Text of the Hebrews and the Greek text used by the Christians at Antioch. Unfortunately, since most people do not study the difference between Bible versions, most of the foreign Bibles being produced are from Contemporary English Versions that are "easier-to-read," but not as faithful at preserving God's words. God pronounces a curse on those who add or take away from His words. God tells us that His words will endure forever and are a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path --- we live by every word which proceeds out of the mouth of God. The Bible tells us that God is the Source of Truth, His nature is unchanging and He cannot lie - He is good and faithful to never contradict Himself.
