5.0 out of 5 stars Very needed study Bible, September 1, 2007
If you've recently tried to find a Bible to suit your needs, you know that it is absolutely difficult. I know, and I'm a preacher, lol. The Open Study Bible and the Thompson Chain-Reference Study Bible are two types of Bibles that I recommend for students of Scripture both new and old. The references in this study Bible are organized and listed in a very useful way. As every Bible's purpose is unique, the Thompson Chain is no different. It's chain referencing system is not duplicated elsewhere. Therefore, it's an essential aid to the personal library.

2.0 out of 5 stars Buy the Kirkbride. . ., December 8, 2007
I can only echo was a prior reviewer wrote. I've had Thompson Bibles for nearly 30 years, all Kirkbride. My oldest, a KJV, is still in very good shape after countless uses. I purchased this one for the price, and wanted the NKJV. Construction is just plain lousy--there is no comparison with the Kirkbride Bibles, that really don't cost much more. Pages started coming out of this one. I have since replaced it with a Kirkbride-made one. I should've known better--Nelson Bibles have always been bottom feeders in the Bible market. If you have any doubt as to Kirkbride quality, visit their web site.

As for the Chain Reference system, it remains the most comprehensive study Bible ever made. Its value is multiplied because, unlike Scofield, Ryrie, McArthur and the others, it is theologically completely unbiased. The purpose here is only to facilitate Bible study, not reading someone else's slant. I'll admit, I've had a pile of 'reference' Bibles with all those little numbers in a center or side column. I never used them. The Thompson system, with not only the chains but topics, works perfectly for me. I've given away several of these Bibles because I can pass them along with the knowledge that I'm not expressing some other author's views.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Blessing , to Own, September 26, 2007
The newer bindings are not of the same quality of days gone by :-(

Content is still 5 star all the way!

Everyone is cuting cost, out sourceing to countries with cheaper labor..

This is one of the few bibles still printed in the USA.

Quality and prices are driven by the customers. We all send a vote in when we make a purchase based on either (quality) or (price).

For this day and time, this bible is very well made and i luv my copy!
