The Thompson Twins box set is a great find and a real bargain. The majority of my Thompson Twins collection were of course on vinyl back in the 80's. To get them all on CD along with the bonus tracks (so many!), the B-sides, 12" mixes, and "cassette remixes" (how cool!) are all really a treat to see and listen to. What a great collection to own. The liner notes, etc., are also great. For anyone who still enjoys the Thompson Twins, this is THE box set to get!

OK. So the Thompson Twins don't have the legacy they really deserve. They had some awesome tunes that are so innovative, original, fun, creative, well-done....I could keep going. The band was one of the first alternative bands that broke fully into the mainstream and stamped their mark. I wouldn't want to relive the 80's without the appearance of Hold Me Now, Doctor Doctor, Lay Your Hands on Me, or Into the Gap, among others. These songs do what great music does; to elevate your mood and make you feel like life is just a bit lighter and more fun and interesting. I think this band deserves great acclaim for breaking ground for alternative music and for their fun, original, distinctive music. It's great to get this box set with all the extras. You get so many cds for a very awesome price.
My one complaint with this box set.....the cover art. This picture of the Twins make the group look a bit too dorky wouldn't you say? Of all the shots they could have picked...lol...but part of the appeal of the group is their peculiarity and eccentricity. You can't judge a book by its cover. Inside are some really great albums that you will no doubt enjoy playing for hours. I had never heard the whole Into The Gap album, and I'm glad I got this box set because there are some really good tunes that I had never heard. The same with Quick Step and Side Kick. The first album is more of a history of - and illuminates how the band got started. It's great to hear these early tunes and see that Tom already had that unmistakable style. By the last album in the set, Here's to Future Days, you will see how much they have changed and polished their sound. I also own the later albums,Close to the Bone, Big Trash, Queer, and the two Babble albums, so it was great to grab all the previous albums at one low price. This band is one of my all-time favorites! There will never be another band quite like this one.

so having owned into the gap and here's to future days, i was excited to have all the extras that came along with this set. i had never hear the first three albums, and they were a pleasant surprise. the amount of b sides, remixes, unreleased songs, live songs, and extended versions is staggering. i listened to all four cd's in a row, and now i will have to go back and listen to each one by itself to fully appreciate them. the liner notes were very imformative...the artwork was too cool with pictures of the specialty 45's that were printed (had never known about them), the merchandise forms, single and 12 inch covers...just about the best boxed set of previously released albums i have ever seen. well worth the $28 price tag...(import cds is a great place to get...import cd's). it would be great if the last three thompson twins albums were to get the same treatment (i've never heard them either). all that was missing was the videos. maybe some live performances. otherwise, a great i had a great time listening.
