Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Last seen during a short walk-on (or rather, incall) in Thug-a-Licious, Saucy Robinson returns with a vengeance in Noire's latest Harlem street tale, with Noire's most sophisticated plot to date. Born in Harlem to a black ex-G.I. father and a junkie Korean prostitute mother, Saucy (named Seung Cee by her mother and Sarita by her father) ends up in her uncle Swag's care by age eight, after her mother pimps her out to various men and her lesbian lover. Saucy's upstairs neighbor is a black girl named Tai, and the two are on-again, off-again frenemies for the rest of the book. Saucy, a total hottie, ends up attached to various drug dealers and working at a strip joint, the G-Spot. She breaks into doing rap videos, and ordinary-looking Tai, who is working for super-rapper Freedom Moore, hooks them up. Free wants Saucy to act straight, and if she can, her happiness might be assured. Beyond the sex, what drives the book is Saucy's vivid, trash-talking unreliability—except perhaps in describing her own pleasure. (Mar.)

Review

''Saucy Robinson returns with a vengeance in Noire's latest Harlem street tale, with Noire's most sophisticated plot to date.'' --Publishers Weekly

''Behind Noire's hyperrealistic graphic violence and raunchy sex are interwoven stories, a strong plot, and carefully drawn characters with classic motivations. Noire is Dickens for the age of dojah, donuts, and dawgs.'' --Publishers Weekly, praise for the author --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

Thong on Fire by Noire
Genre: Urban Erotica
APOOO rating: 5
Amazon.com rating: 5

Thong on Fire by Noire has all the classic components to classify
itself as an urban erotic tale. What sets this novel apart from the
rest of the tales told in Harlem, New York is the twist. A twist
that sheds the many layers of Saucy Robinson to reveal what makes
this woman tick. Through the hurt and pain, trials and
tribulations, the sex and eroticism, Saucy tries her best to land on
top - literally. This is the tale of a woman that suffers at the
hands of many individuals but refuses to be the victim. Saucy will
do whatever it takes and by any means necessary to make sure she is
the woman in the spotlight, in the music video, on the arm of the
hottest artist (male or female), or walking through the velvet ropes
to the VIP section of the club.

The reader is introduced to the many individuals that help shape and
mold Saucy Robinson's character. From the very beginning, Noire
illustrates to the reader the suffering Saucy endures from the death
of her father and the abuse she suffers at the hands of her drug
addicted mother. It is obvious that the scandalous woman Saucy
becomes is because of the rage and anger that brews within. Saucy
has no choice, in her opinion, but to build a wall and to look at
herself, first and foremost. Saucy has been blessed with the exotic
features from a Korean mom and the body of a goddess that has been
passed on by the genes of her African American father. Saucy
definitely uses what she has to get what she wants.

So who should read this book? Anyone looking for a departure from
the traditional erotica story. Do not get me wrong.

Noire captivates you with this tale beginning with the abuse of a little girl named Saucy. Saucy used her abuse to become wickedly smart and manipulative. Throughout her story she walks over so many people, always trying to find someone to use as a stepping stone.

I think it could have stood a little more depth, but was interesting enough to keep your attention to see if Saucy was able to rise above her past or fall to a much deserved demise. Because she really didn't know any better!

I envisioned Freedom as Common, just using my imagination! I did enjoy her tale of the music industry, videos, and the antics that occurs in the business. Noire also incorporates child abuse, promiscuity, entertainment buzz, jealousy, back-biting, and even murder in this novel.

The story sounds familiar but she puts her style of twists and turns on it to make it a definite original!!! Kudo's!

Saucy Sarita Robinson is a person you have to keep away from your children. The only life Saucy knew was the streets and she had a good teacher. This book is not for the closed mind. It is an eye opening, mind boogling, shake-your-head type of book, but it is a book you can not put down no matter how mad or upset you get. It is really a must read!

Woooooooooooow. That is all I have to say after finishing this BOMB novel by Noire!!!

The story of Saucy Sarita Robinson is one that will haunt you long after the last page, it's that good. Saucy's life has never been easy, her mother a Korean prostitute and her dad were both strung out. Her dad dies when Saucy is still very young. Kimichi, Saucy's mom allows her daughter to be violated in order to support her habit..heroin. So Saucy's whole mentality in life is to get what she can out of people regardless of how she hurts them.

Saucy is cold, self obsorbed, selfish, heartless and downright mean.

And if you cross Saucy she will surely, curse you out, emabarass you, hurt your feelings or even take your life...

Saucy is exotic, beautiful, and has a body men can't resist ( or women)

Saucy has never really loved anyone other than her uncle Swag who took her in when his own daughter died.

Saucy can't even love Free the one man who showed her love, or the baby Nasir she gives birth too. Saucy is too caught up in material things to realize people love her and she is hurting them.

This story left me speechless, because Saucy was off the hook. It was well written. I only wished Saucy would have tried to help her mother and herself get drug rehab. I wish Saucy had done right by Free, little did she know that "Honda" she hated was a front, free coulda been pushing a Bently. Tai was always there for her and Saucy tried to hurt her too and suceeded. And most importantly her own son Nasir..she didn't give a damn about him either. So in a way she got what she deserved because this girl was TRIFLING!!!!

I was in two minds about buying this book at first, but I am very pleased that I decided to buy it. It grips you right from the start and the intro, although disturbing, draws you in and makes you want to read more. It is the story of a life hardened woman called Saucy who lives on her wits and develops a hard and ruthless shell. She exhibits a unique gift for manipulating the right people to help her to achieve her goals. She also has a merciless way of eliminating people who get in her way. Saucy describes having heaving sex on the kitchen floor, as an unattended pan on the stove spits hot fat onto her lovers back, a lover she later eliminates with the passion of a black widow . With a kiss of death, she ingeniously kills him.

There are stylish flashbacks to her childhood and even at that tender age she mercilessly uses people. She is from an impoverished background and is jealous of her privileged but ugly cousin. When her cousin Paris tragically dies of meningitis, Saucy incriminates her own mother's abusive lover, so the authorities step in and take out of her hated home and because of a rapport she has developed with her uncle, she manoeuvres her way into her dead cousin's shoes.

A very gripping novel and one that is worthy of making into a movie or TV Mini-series I'm sure. Well recommended, I was very pleased that I decided to buy it. Although I usually prefer erotic short stories rather than erotic novels I have found this book a welcome exception. If however, you enjoy erotic short stories I can thoroughly recommend 100 PERCENT EROTICA by Suzie Van Aartman, It is very raunchy and explicit book and the action is so graphically displayed it feels as if you are actually there, watching from a few inches away and almost taking part. Check it out; I think you will love it.
