Fun, for teenagers -- or those with teenagers! Would recommend.,

Saw the version released to the airlines (twice, actually, on a long international flight). Definitely enjoyed. Not trying to become a professional reviewer here, but the film is more than silly mind-candy for the targeted teen market. Touches on teen angst with appropriate humor and story development. Would definitely recommend.

I finished the book on Jan 1, in order to see the movie air for the first time in the states. It was a really charming movie. I'm definitely buying it when it comes out. It's no great artistic film, but if you want to watch something that's silly and fun, this is it. The girl who plays the lead is cute and very funny. She really does a good job in the role. I'd definitely love to see movies made of more of the books in the series.

I've been a fan of the book series this is based on, since I was in high school. When I heard there was a movie, I was super excited. Then I saw it. If it were not based on the book, I would have rated it higher. However, because it is based on the book I didn't like it. There were too many changes and they did not seem necessary at all. Some of the casting felt wrong, especially Robbie and Tom. I really like the actor who plays Robbie, but he seemed a lot younger than Tom. Dave the Laugh (my favorite character in the series) was ok, but his dialogue felt awkward instead of funny and cheeky. The differences do not end here, but I won't continue. If you like it, that is great. As a fan of the books, I can't accept it.

I watched this with my 11 year old daughter. She really enjoyed the movie.
It's about a 14 year old girl who has a crush on a boy and she's trying hard to get his attention even though he seems to have the perfect girlfriend. Her parents have an incredible relationship, but her father goes to Australia for his job and her mother is left behind with her and her sister. Georgia believes her mom will leave her father for a younger man who happens to be fixing their house. A boy she has no interest in has a crush on her. Her best friend is dating her crushes brother...it's a really good story. Very funny too!! It does have a mature element to it with girls and their first kisses, bras and actual thongs.

This is one of the cutest movies I've seen in a while. I purchased it for my daughter (who is a teenager) and we laughed like loons on loon tablets! You must be able to follow or at least figure out British teen slang but other than that it's very entertaining. We're now collecting the books the movie is based on.

This movie was a horrible adaption of Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging. Granted, it must be more difficult to make a movie out of a book written in diary form. But man, did they MESS this one up. The Georgia was okay, she had the look and some comedic timing. But really, the only character in the movie that made me laugh was Libby...in one scene. Now, as for the problems. I'll try to make it brief. The main plot and motivation in the books are simply Georgia's pursuit of a boy, in this one--The Sex God (aka Robbie). For some reason this movie adds in subplots about Georgia's Sweet Sixteen birthday party and Georgia's mom supposedly cheating on her father while he's in New Zealand. For some strange reason this film tries to make some things...serious. Georgia books are supposed to be completely devoid of all seriousness, sadness, or maturity. And what to they throw into this movie? Sadness, seriousness and maturity! How did the diary of Georgia Nicholson turn into a "coming of age" story? Instead of making it clear how silly it is that Georgia thinks her world is ending if her skin is not perfect or a boy doesn't call, they present it as though they are valid concerns. Her actions which are supposed to be hilariously shallow and silly come out as whiny, bratty and annoyingly shallow, even manipulative. Robbie is not as attractive as he should be. Dave the Laugh is not funny. Angus is an ugly, gray Persian instead of a large orange tabby. Most of Georgia's complaints and woes about life are treated seriously instead of made funny. The relationship between Jas and Georgia isn't very funny. Jas just comes off as extremely stupid, when really she's just supposed to be inattentive. Finally, the issue of Georgia's mom and the carpenter REALLY bothered me. It was not funny, went nowhere, and destroyed the tone of the film. The movie also felt it necessary to give it a moral, and make Georgia mature--which is completely stupid. There are ten books with her being just as immature, silly and shallow as she was at 14, and that works for her. This film took away everything that made Georgia special and original. It made her just another recycled teenaged girl character, which is truly disappointing. For people who have never read the books, this might be somewhat amusing. But the movie is still very disorganized, and doesn't seem very sure of what it's supposed to be. If you want a slight chuckle, watch the movie. If you want laugh out loud funny, read the books.

Books are Hilarious, This is Not!,

I started reading the book series when I was in high school [around 9 years ago], and I was SO excited when I heard there was a movie coming out. Then I waited a couple years for it to get made. Then I had to wait a year after every other country's release for it to be released in the US. It didn't come out in theaters, I just happened across it on cable.
Awful. They combined two girls' characters, didn't have a lot of people, her parents were kinda lame and too nice, the separate boy/girl schools were combined... I was so disappointed that I had waited so long to see it and it wasn't even funny! The books made me LAUGH OUT LOUD! The movie never made me laugh once. Sigh. I can tell most of the people reviewing the movie haven't read the books... PLEASE read the books instead! Even as an adult, I still luuuurve them!

My daughter originally recorded this program on our DVR player but it was taking up too much space so I ordered her a DVD version from Amazon. It's a great story and well-acted. I enjoyed it as much as she did!
