I'm so glad I purchased this. I've been waiting for a complete collection of this for about a year and a half now and I pre-ordered this 3 months ago with my Amazon Prime trial to get release-day delivery. In the end, the wait was definitely worth it.

First off what really makes this collection shine is the relationship between Thor and Jane Foster. The dynamic between these two has never been written better. I actually found it romantic, sweet and I don't want to use this word but honestly I found them adorable. I can't help but smile at the two of them.

That's just one part, the action as well is fun and exciting. Thor is shown as strong, powerful and capable of holding his ground, but he isn't perfect. He's eager to fight, head-strong and can make mistakes. This Thor has a few weaknesses, but it makes it a lot more satisfying when he overcomes the odds that are stacked against him.

The guest-stars in each story are all unique and bring something different to the table for Thor. You get Mr. Hyde, Giant-Man, Warriors-Three, Captain Britain, Namor, Hiemdall/Fing-Fang-Foom, Iron-Man and Captain America. The only disappointing thing is that in the character designs, you could see Langridge had a Hulk story in the works, but the series was unfortunately cancelled and we never got to see that.

Facial-expressions and artwork are fantastic. Many are creative and over the top and you can really see what the character is feeling at that exact moment. Has a very old-school feel to it and the book is meant for all ages, so it was intended. This book put me in a good-mood and I actually plan to go back to it, if I just want to put a smile on my face. I read this after finishing the first 5 issues of Thor: God of Thunder.

The writing will make you smile and the art is absolutely gorgeous.
This is one of those books that comes along once in a very long while, and it is finally collected all between two covers.
Pick it up, you will not be disappointed.

I got this for me, read it and gave it to my 10 year old kid to read. he loved it too. the stories are fun, the art is simple yet gorgeous. It is a great way to meet a wide array of the Marvel pantheon. The Captain Britain chapter, where Thor and his buddies end up in a pub with Captain Britain is really funny. The love story is sweet and understated, and there are lots of heroics. This is a great Thor incarnation.

If you're checking out volume 2 of Thor: The Mighty Avenger, chances are you're already familiar with the setting, premise, and general details of the series. For those unacquainted, this series is written by Rodger Langridge, with art by Chris Samnee, and it is absolutely amazing. I can already confidently tell everyone to buy it now. I already reviewed volume 1, and it was pretty much wall-to-wall praise, so to avoid being redundant, I'll only summarize my love for this series here.

Langridge's writing is a perfect balance between campy fun, a touching, charming love story, and poignant depth. I am always floored by the quality and variety of each issue's story. The characters are all very well developed, and there are many. Samnee's work as artist is just as exceptional and really compliment's Langridge's writing style. It's more simple than most modern comics, and yet seems to scream expression and detail. In many ways, this creative team's work really harkens back to the Lee/Kirby days of comics, where comics were fun and deeply enjoyable forms of entertainment made by impassioned artists. It also adds the depth of more modern comics as well, making for a balance of perfection

Each issue is essentially a stand-alone story and it isn't until issues #7 and #8 that you see a bigger picture start to form. This series has a ton of guest stars from both Thor's and the greater Marvel catalog, some being expected and others being totally obscure. Every one is delightful.Unfortunately, in a move that again crushes my faith in the human race and justice in this world, Marvel cancelled the series at #8. Still, this series should and must be purchased and devoured by anyone who professes to enjoy comic books.

The second half to this run. It's in the smaller digest form, like the previous volume. Here's hoping that Marvel does a larger collection including both volumes and the FCD special with Captain America and Thor, also by the same creative team. Not sure we're going to get the complete volume, so until we do, these digests are like gold. For me it's Lee/Kirby, Simonson, and now Langridge/Samnee.

Thor: the Mighty Avenger was a fantastic comic series, which was cancelled way too soon. This is everything that is good about comic books. Roger Langridge writes a great adventure, filled with fun, likable characters, and Chris Samnee has very clean artwork. If you were a fan of Marvel's Thor in the 1960s, you will appreciate this reinterpretation. If you're new comic book reader or an older fan looking for something for your children, this is very accessible (probably far more accessible than most of today's comic books).
